    Serious
She was IMO a bit racist . .not for using the word in specific
    but
primarily how dismissive she is of this ladies feelings
IMO she came across .. . not so much THIS LADY is sensative
she might as well had said. . YOU PEOPLE ARE SO SENSATIVE

Right. She addressed black people's hypersensitivity to racism more than addressing the caller's issue of if her husband's family is wrong. She said "give me 2 examples" and allowed the caller a half description before going off on her own rant.

After the caller mentioned the offensive to her example of the family saying "Black people do ___ , white people do ___ " Dr Laura did make a good point of that its to be expected anywhere with any race, Jews or anybody. And if you marry interracially to expect that to be part of the territory. That is very correct for sure. But we didnt get any SPECIFIC examples from the caller cuz Dr Laura's mind was made up that the caller was sensitive.

Thats part of the Dr Laura way, to get in some jabs at the women with the "Truth Hurts" approach. Sometimes its appropriate, sometimes its just self-absorbed preachiness

I didnt think her use of the n-word was that bad. If she and the black woman were watching the same comedy show-
The black woman says: "Thats all they talk about, n***** n***** n***** "
Dr Laura says: "Thats all they talk about, n***** n***** n***** "

Is Dr Laura out of line? She's making an observation of what someone is doing. She's not trying to get whites to reclaim the word back to its "rightful use". But people will see it as white person wanting black people to allow her to use the n-word without blacks objecting about it.

Describes my opinion too, very well.

I love her approach of holding women accountable and stopping the women from whining and being all sympathy baiting. As flawed as Dr Laura is, she's one of the few women who'll deal in direct specifics, even if she has to lay into someone.

But she's just plain gotten too bitter all around.

Now, go take on the day!

I actually love Dr. Laura in the way that I love watching Ed Wood movies, in that she is so, so bad that she's good.

Dr. Laura: Yes caller, go ahead.
Caller: Dr. Laura, you are so great. I can't tell you how much I love your show.
Dr. Laura: Oh, thank you. But try to tell me.
Caller: Okay... Um, Dr. Laura, I love your show so much I wish I could listen to it all day and then even when I sleep!
Dr. Laura: Okay, that's a sweet thing to say! Now why are you calling?
Caller: Well, Dr. Laura, the other day I was trying to have a difficult conver--
Dr. Laura: No! No, no, and NO!
    Caller: What, I...
Dr. Laura: Never try to talk your husband into a religious conversion and never ever should you consider a religious conversion.
Caller: But... Dr. Laura! I was trying to say CONVERSATION! :( I was trying to have a difficult conversation, and
Dr. Laura: Oh, OHkay. That sounds likely. It wasn't a conversion at all now, is that what you expect me to believe? Me and this audience? That we didn't hear you say conversion?
Caller: But -- (caller is disconnected)
Dr. Laura: See. (long sigh.) Poor woman. Can't even face her real issue: namely that she wants to convert to a religion of poo-eating and peanut-butter fisting just because her husband follows that religion. Plain as day. Next caller.

Nice, but more calls go something like this:

Dr. Laura: Katy, welcome to the program!
Katy: Hi, Dr Laura! Thank you for taking my call, first time caller - longtime listener, I am my own mom...er, my kid's girlfriend...er, my kids mom and I have all your books including my favorite....10 Stupid Things to Say at the Beginning of a Talk Radio Call!
    Dr. Laura: Thank you.
Katy: Dr. Laura, I'm 48 years old, my husband is...
Dr. Laura: And what is your question for me?
Katy: Well, my husband is having an affair and...
Dr. Laura: WHAT IS YOUR QUESTION?!?
Katy: My question is should I...
Dr. Laura: Oh my GOD. I'm going to give you one more shot....WHAT IS YOUR QUESTION FOR ME??
Katy: Should I leave my husband?
    Dr. Laura: No.
Katy: Even if he's having sex with goats?
    Dr. Laura: YES, EVEN IF!!!!

I disagree for the simple fact that she repeated the word over and over. She would have made her point much more if she had used it just once each time she was referring to comedians. Her overuse of the word and multiple comments about how black/white relations have gotten worse since Obama was elected show her pent up frustration and her own hypersensitivity regarding black/white issues.

probably would have been better to only use it only once...and hell, it probably would have been better to not use it at all...but the number of times it was said really isnt the issue.

This whole thing is just silly and really brings nothing new to the forefront of the "n-word" usage issue.

I think many people are tired of the race card being played over and over again in places where it really isnt necessary.

I tend to agree because I myself think the race card is grossly overused but this is a race-sensitive word and issue so I am not really sure this is an overuse

I am of mixed-race (black father/white mother) and my girlfriend is white. None of her friends come into our house and throw racial words and jokes around toward me and none of my friends do it toward her. I'd take issue if my friends did use derogatory statements toward her. So I would say the caller needs to address the issue with her husband as well as reexamine who she married in the first place if he is not putting an end to this stuff.

She's pretty famous. She's a Conservative Jewish media personality.

Blacks voted for Obama be cause he was black and because he was going to win. According to the polls when they thought he had no shot, many blacks did not support him even though he is half-black prior to Iowa and South Carolina.

But you honestly think that Obama being black didn't influence black folks when they went to vote? IMO being black helped Obama win not only black votes but a lot of white voters as well who wanted a change and wanted to be the type of person to give a black man a chance finally

Personally I dont think it's something to be ashamed of even if being black helped him. The history of America is 400 years when being black was the biggest disadvantage possible... this one instance of black being beneficial is probably okay in the balance of things

No I don't, because he got the same percentage of the black vote as every recent white Democratic presidential nominee.

I think the majority of black voters would have voted for whoever was listed in Democrat slot during the election. About the only thing I can think of that Obama influenced as far as black voters are concerned, is getting more of them to the polls.

Wow! I didn't think this was that big of a deal.

LOL at Larry King saying "it's not okay when the non-N person uses it."
