Probably not a smart thing for her to say, but her ratings may be sagging and she needs the press.

How do you all actually feel about the caller's husband actions?

Should he allow someone to come in and question his wife on why black people do what they do?

I'm sure she has commented to him on how uncomfortable that could have been.

well, other than the incendiary comment at the end calling abortion murder (and also the comment about how everyone needs to go to church because "the country is burning down"), i'm glad he admitted (like any sane person would) that there are more pressing problems than the legalization of gay marriage. maybe his sheep will follow in lockstep and it'll happen sooner than the "ten years" they projected. though we know which party will be fighting tooth and nail against it.

what he said was he didn't care about it, if it doesn't "prick" him (heh) or steal his money. a very libertarian viewpoint.

and i may have to start watching glenn beck, as we're apparently in sync on two issues.

i wonder from whence cometh such constructive and insightful posts? are you incapable of engaging in civilized discourse, without snark and name calling?

With you? Why should anyone bother? You haven't shown yourself worthy of civilized discourse here.

Interesting question. Too bad Dr Laura was too busy going on a political rant to actually address the caller's issue.

To be honest, I used to really dig her show. I loved hearing her dress down callers who were screwing up their lives and the lives of their kids. But she seems to have gotten more bitter over the last few years.

    - Constantly interrupting callers and then admonishing them for not "listening" to her (while she is interrupting them).
    - Giving everyone "one size fits all" advice without taking the time to actually LISTEN to the caller's concerns (this call is the perfect example of that).
    - At times, literally laughing out loud at caller's real-life problems.
    - Cutting them off before they can accurately state their issues, then getting mad and hanging up on them for not accurately stating their issues.

Plus she constantly pimps some company called Income At Home dot com and it's a total multi-level marketing scam. Just a quick google search can tell you that, but I guess she doesn't care as long as their checks continue to clear her bank account.

Which is especially amusing, since the back and forth started when you criticized others for the same reasons. Should they "give a damn"?

then how am i going to sing to UGK?

I do think people are too hypersensitive to the idea of that word being said. Just because it is said does not make it racist. Granted, it shouldnt be tossed around loosey goosey either. Her example was not the best but she was, in general, making a fair point (how the term is tossed around so much how is one to know whether its offensive or not). It seems the intent of the word is what makes it offensive, not necessarily the word itself.

Or is it only offensive with an "er" at the end? I always forget ;)

and just because this is one of the best skits...nsfw for offensive language...or is it?

I generally agree with this. I don't like when people tell me I should or should not be offended by something. I hear this type of stuff from my side of the family and my girl's family as well and it bothers me but I just chalk it up to ignorance on their parts but I know if there were different people in those same situations they may react in a different way than I do which is just ignore it.

    i agree completely.

In this case it wasnt directed to anyone, she was just saying it generically, mocking how it is tossed around in modern society. We know what she meant, but still it's not something she should say on. Although, i think people sound pretty silly when they say "n-word".

bottom line, this isnt that big of a deal. SLow news day i guess
