Tell that to the 1 million people who had to relocate for the Three Gorges dam.

30 members of my family moved because of the dam. now they are all in a brand new town in brand new and bigger apartments with better environment. much better condition than before :) i visited them in 2004, i was really shocked at the new town. it was awesome. they had a brand new indoor 'standium' with nice wood floor. they never had those before. but i sprained my ankle while playing there.

Don't be naive about it. This "personal opinions" is just the first step. See what's going to follow if Yao dares not to respond immidiately.

The principle of eminent domain exists in every country. I'm sure you've heard of cases where towns take land and houses in order to build Wal-Marts?

We've compensated them, just like any government would for seizing land under eminent domain. Your governments in the US, national and local, do the same from time to time.

I realize that you don't like China, but if you want to critize us, try not to be hypocritical?

See? You didn't sprain your ankle before the government made you move. ;) j/k

I'm just basing off of a documentary I saw about that and how local officials took all the money the federal government gave to the people. I hear that happens a lot. I guess it's not all the federal governments fault but if it happens a lot, they're not doing much to prevent it either.

ya, the central government always mean to do good things. it's a few of those damn bastards local officials or business people trying to rip people off. when they get caught, they are all going to hell. but most people are ok. the unlucky ones really don't deserve it though.

All I have to say about this junk is: clean up your own house before criticizing someone else's.

The difference is when it happens here there is community outrage. Whereas China has sheep like you coming to their defense.

Edit: My wife is from Beijing, btw. I love the people. But I don't care too much for the government that put her 60 year old aunt in jail for practicing Falun Gong.

"Community outrage"? Where has that gone? I'll tell you where, nowhere. The Wal-Mart gets built, the people get compensated, and life goes on. Community outrage is irrelevant when nothing comes of it. I know there are people who are unhappy about getting moved (these are the guys bribed by the western media to invent sob stories), but they've been compensated, just like everyone else.

You shouldn't be talking about pro-government flunkies; you're probably from Texas. Where are the main source of pro-Bush flunkies?

You want anti-government sentiment? Open any US newspaper. Stories abound. Good luck finding that in China. The sheep are herded well over there.

LOL, i don't want sound like i'm picking a fight with you :p but i am strongly opposed to any falun gon people. they claim it's traditional chinese art. but no, in true, the dude who started it was an army cook. he had nothing to do after he was out of army. so he started this thing to rip people money and get a following. falun gon did not exist before that dude started it. he just took a bunch of traditional movements and people think it's an old tradition. a lot people got really into and refused to see doctors and forced some of their people not go to doctors and some of them died cause of it. i'm not against inventing something new. but no one ever said **** about tai chi. and they have tons of followers.

We have Christian Science in America. I think they're kooks, myself. I've heard some of the teachings of Falun Gong. Sounds pretty crazy to me too, I admit. Just like Scientology. My point is though, you don't see Tom Cruise getting thrown in jail. Most of what I see of Falun Gong is them doing Tai Chi related things and a lot of meditation. What I really think China has a problem with is that they have a group of people who aren't toeing the party line. That's basically it.

Go read some Chinese newspapers from the mainland. You'll find there are many articles nowadays that are critical of what the party and its officials are doing.

It's funny how an American tries to tell me how it's like in China.

I still cannot believe so many people fall for a cult like falun gon. How many of you who believes in falun gon will follow me when I start my own religious organization later in the year? We will worship Yao Ming as our lord, lol. Oh you can all donate to me first. :D

ya, i understand. it's hard for you to believe some of the things happening in china. but in the past cults in china have always been eradicated. by that i mean, 100% butchered until the last baby. no way it's happening today, it's too barbaric. but, the government is basically doing what always have happened in the past. whether that's the right way go do things or not, is up to every individual. people have different thoughts on things :)

    i'm not from taiwan.

when the Rockets won the championship in 1993/94, there was a special place that god created called "CLUTCHTASIA", where he told select humans to protect and defend the legacy and work of the heroes of ClutchCity on Earth.

You see, the 1993-94 was not only a battle of Rockets vs Knicks. it was good vs evil. If the Knicks had won, the world would have been taken over by demons and giant firebreathing lizards.

But the heroic Rockets won and good prevailed. However, the devil put HATERS on earth to disrespect the legacy of the heroes.

I was one of the chosen ones. I'm a defender of heroes.
