AP and Cleveland Plain Dealer report Larry Brown to resign today

First, Brown is not fragile. He is volatile but no more than most of the coaches in the league. I remember the story about Pat Riley sticking his head in a bucket of ice water they used to ice down players' ankles after games and hold it there for like a minute to prove you could do anything if you put your mind to it. Yikes!

It is an emotional job.

Second, before everyone starts getting greedy and thinking we can get Dunleavy as an assistant (as if it would even work), it is very likely he will get the job in Atlanta after the sale of the team to Texas car dealer David McDavid is approved. He and Dunleavy are good friends. Even if that doesn't happen, he has opportunities out there with the Clippers and others. He doesn't need an assistant job. Besides, who would turn down a couple million per season as a head coach for probably a few hundred thousand to be an assistant???

Yep. Mike Dunleavy wouldn't want to be an assistant under Larry. Rudy wouldn't want to be an assistant under Larry. They could be co-head coaches....but they wouldn't work under the other. Who knows! I just hope Larry Brown is our coach.

 

Remember that Charlie Thomas used to own the Rockets. He was a car dealer. Hell, Bud Adams was a car dealer!
