Brown is very likely going to bring his own assistants to whatever job he takes. He might consider keeping on a few guys in Houston and there are guys like Keith Jones who have responsibilities that go beyond trainer who would remain, but I don't think any of us should expect Brown to come in and hire former Rockets if he came to Houston.

crash, that's a great idea of bringing in Dunleavy as an assistant, however I'm afraid he'll end of being the head coach somewhere when the season begins. If he wants to, I'd also bring Dream, or even Elvin Hayes, in to help Yao down low. Just for fun, here's my dream scenario for our coaching staff next season.
    Head Coach- Larry Brown
    Assistants- Mike Dunleavy
    Hakeem Olajuwon
    Kenny Smith

I'm not sure who I want to be the coach, but it does seem to me Brown's a lock. His relationship with Alexander, his defending of SF and Cat, and his attack of the press early last season about the garbage that was being said about Yao and his affection for Rudy, just add up unusually strong ties to another team. Would Van Gundy be better? I don't know, Brown stands as good a chance as getting through to Steve and Cat as anyone. Of course, it could also signal to Steve, he could start mimicing A.I.' s tantrums too.
But I think Les can sell Brown on the Rockets and Brown can sell Steve et all, that's he's what this team needs.
I'm saddened, by all of this, but relieved it's almost over.
I be we have a coach in the next few days - Larry's Brown's fatigue doesn't have anything to do with our situation down here in Houston.

Has Sleepy Floyd expressed intrest in coaching? That would be hilarious. I love Sleepy. My old SN here was SleepyFloyd before I forgot the password. Go Sleepy!

    OH MY GOD.

    I REMEMBER THAT THREAD.

    That was sweet!

And I was like Hell Yeah. Bring Larry Brown in.

    God. Talk about foreshadowing.

I love being a Rockets fan.

And then.......god.........Larry Smith becomes our head coach.

    UGh! :D

Looks like we are definetely getting either Brown or Van Gundy. Though I prefer Brown over Van Gundy just a little bit, we are headed for exciting times indeed. Defense is about to become our teams' trademark.

The one thing that makes me lean towards Brown is that he has shown more ability to get the most out of his superstar (Iverson) and also made him a far smarter player than he was, something Francis has yet to become. His offensive prowess seems more documented too, though with Van Gundy we really don't have lot to analyze.

Either way I'm happy. Now SCREW those Dunleavy rumours and let's get our man onboard!

The winds of change are blowing! You GOTTA love it! For all of you that are, though understandably, pissed about Rudy's departure, wait till you see this team next year, playing within a system!

Exciting time to be a Rockets fan, indeed. In the long run, we will be glad we didn't make the playoffs, after all.

I never thought Rockets offseason could be so exciting!

    * 5/22, Cleveland hits LeBron James. Cleveland media reports Van Gundy to take Cleveland coaching job.
    * 5/23, Rudy T's resignation. (Sorry to him go, but Rockets got to move on).
    * 5/23, on TNT, Van Gundy denies accepting the coaching position in Cleveland.
    * 5/24, Rockets officially started heading coach hunt. Every out-of-job-coach/TV-anchor's dogs are calling CD for the job.
    * 5/25, Larry Brown to resign as 76ers head coach.

    What's next?

    Sixer fan here.

If Brown goes to Houston, we want compensation.

    I'll take Yao Ming. :D

    Thank you.

Seriously though, best of luck to you. I hope the Sixers look to rebuild this summer and trade Iverson.

If Brown does go to Houston, I can guarantee you'll be in the second round of the playoffs by next year. But don't give him GM responsibility or you'll regret it. The man can't draft and falls out of love too quickly with young players.

I'd love to see how Brown works with Yao Ming and that backcourt. That would be exciting.

Thanks! The 76ers owner is nice!

CPops57, welcome! You want to trade Iverson? lol...sounds like a guy here wanting to trade Francis. I'm glad that you don't feel bad about Larry Brown and whatever.

And......I am going to find a Cleveland Cavaliers board and see what they are saying!

We'd love Iverson here! But Snow would be enough. :)

Last I knew, he lives in Sugar Land and runs a small business and as of 4 years ago, he didn't have a fax machine.

Person1: "Hey, Sleepy Floyd, you're my starter on NBA Live (PC version). I get 25 and 10 with you every night."

Sleepy: "I never averaged 10 rebounds."

    Sleepy exits.

Person2: "Did you know he has the playoff record for points in a half?"

Person1: "Holy crap! You mean he really did average 25 a night?"

Person2: "Yeah, obviously you don't remember, but Sleepy didn't suck. I guess you failed to mention to him that you're using the ALL-SUCK Rockets line-up with Scotty Brooks, Winston Garlend, and such, and you have Sleepy starting at center?

Person1: "Uh, yeah I think he would have hit me."

    Avery Johnson enters

    Avery: "God Bless you all."

Avery talks unend and interjects every 10 seconds: "God Bless."

    START OF TRAINING CAMP 2003.
Coach Larry Brown and his Assistant Coaches Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Mario Ellie and Doc Rivers decided to invite all the Staff and Senior Members of Clutch BBS to the fist training session at the new Downtown Houston Arena! The starting team of Francis, Arenas, Posey, Brand and Yao Ming wearing deep red jerseys and siver shorts took to the court to a hearty welcome by the crowd. Wishfull thinking! Its OK isnt it?

Coach Brown's fragility worries a whole lot. He comes accross as a very unstable man too. We don't need that in spite of his great "coaching" ability. Maybe coaching Yao will rejuvenate his love for coaching again and the will not have to go through the retirement/resignation rumour ourselves.

But with rescent developements I strongly believe the stage is set Brown to become Houstons next head coach (too bad LeBron wanted him too but he has to settle for Silas instead).

Lebron may have been sucking up to Brown to get on the Olympic team.

Or maybe he wanted him as his coach.

    Or both.

Brown isn't fragile. Reports suggest he is fed up (re: "fatigued") with Iverson's B.S. and knows Iverson has only a few years left anyway.

Man, this is getting exciting. Brown, JVG, Dunleavy, Silas...

I think he is fragile. Maybe it is an overstatement on my part but I remember one game which he had to be taken out during the game and was later found to be okay. He was later interview by Craig Sager and he was crying on TV for some unexplainable reasons. Maybe it was because of his mom because he used that medium to send a message to his mon that he is okay.

It seems like he is always crying during post game interviews and pondering on retirement.

From what I have observed I think that there are health concerns with Larry Brown - be it emotion, psychological or spiritual.

CPops... actually, if you are up for making a trade, we will settle for Snow (to go alongside Franchise)... how would you like Mo Taylor?

Sorry Windandsea but it would be even more selfish than last year and team chemistry would be even more down the drain. I think that Francis can be a better player than AI.
