Never said it was. I've had to listen to people complain and moan about the evacuees from day one. My wife's co-workers have been upset about "all the new minorities from New Orleans that have invaded our city". I have overheard similar racist thoughts from too many people in this town. Our willinginess to help those in need have not only shown what a great heart many in this town have, it's also highlighted the racist tendencies still held by some. I'm not saying the thread starter or any of the people he knows that were robbed are racist by any means. Just that their proof that the assailants were "talking funny" doesn't mean they were evacuees. Even if they were, I do not believe that it's representative of the vast majority of those who were forced to leave New Orleans.
lol Well, I would hop you would not say the thread starter is racist, seeing as how he didn't mention one thing about their skin color.
Of course, he didn't have to mention their skin color. It's not a stretch to say that these people were most likely African-American since the vast majority of evacuees were African-American. I've just been wanting to vent on some of the horrible things I've heard directly and overheard at various places.
Kanye West was not lying. bush dont care about black people. neither do the majority of the racist white people in houston. racist fukks.
'Funny Talking' oooooo with the wealth of evidence. . . how can one deny that they are EVACUEEs Rocketman95 is correct The assumption that they are EVACUEES is just wack When they caught and processed. . . then let me know until then . . they are ALLEDGED EVACUEES Rocket River
Dude, that is just as wrong as the assumption that a lot of people are making in this thread. Weak. DD
Way to stay classy Houston. Pat yourself on your back for your generosity, but get the trash out as soon as possible. My wife and I were talking about this this weekend. We were at a PetSmart and a tag switcher was trying to get an expensive item for a discount because of the store's "mistake". The cashier later said to us that this had been happening alot lately and she called it a case of "New Orleans". At least we have a new group of people to hate on instead of each other.
Well, the most highly visible crime committed so far by evacuees, were white (the brutal murder of the Pasadena lady who tried to help them). Also, "talking funny" I think refers to their accent (cajun).
I don't know, but I work with an evacuee. I asked him if he wanted to watch the game this w/e. He said yes, call me and then he gave me his number. He didn't call me back.
I understand what it refers to, but I've heard cajun accents (and many others) in this city well before Katrina.
did you know that there were more Cajun people in Houston than New Orleans even BEFORE Katrina. a Cajun evacuee told me that! true Cajun people generally aren't "from" New Orleans, but from south and west of there. the more discernable accent is just a New Orleans accent...think Harry Connick, Jr.
Given the areas of town he pointed out (close to the Dome), and the fact that all three robbers had cajun accents (assuming thats what he meant by talking funny), I don't think its at all, unreasonable to assume they were evacuees.
Most of the refugees were poverty-stricken in NO, and they definately are here. Low/No income=more crime. It's a fact. It will be interesting to see how Texas' prison population rises over the next few years.
