Interesting how people quickly forget that before the season actually started, everyone including the media was pretty optimistic about the team on paper. This is why games are played however, because things can change and things will change. It was a long combination of things that caused this season's collapse:

- Injuries prevented any type of cohesiveness and consistency from the very beginning
- Key role players have regressed or are still trying to recover from injuries
- Howard continues to tailspin in his inevitable journey to crash into mediocrity
- Harden had woman and injury issues that caused him to be more out of shape than usual. Probably got a big head after last offseason too.
- Lack of discipline on D and moving off ball, which is mainly on the coaching staff
- Generally speaking, most of the Western Conference has underperformed this season IMO
