Ah, Berby would be fine by me but I'm one of a few people that do think Huntelaar will be a stud when he hits the stage for a bigger team(Although it does depend on the team).

    Bring on the prem. season!
Sorry for diverting from Olympics soccer.

Tomorrow is gonna be wicked for the USA, Nigeria, Holland and Japan.
Hopefully Japan plays a strong team versus the dutch but I doubt it.

That really sucked. A red card 3 minutes into the game and it was an uphill battle from then on. We go from being a minute from advancing after the second game to a 90 minute struggle to stay alive.

What a choke job by the USA......

They let a late equilizer go by against a team they dominated in Holland and then the elbow...WTF?????

Why throw an elbow in the 4th minute of a match.....what a HORRIBLE move by Orosco(sp?)

    Choke, choke, choke.

Nigeria is fast, but their on the ball skill was unimpressive.......but still better than the USA's without Freddie Adu.

This game was a prime example of what happens without a creative midfielder to control the flow and make pinpoint passes to players on the run....

    Adu was SORELY missed.

:( Another wait of two years to see the U.S compete. I wish the MLS was more popular.

I can't wait to see the national team with Adu, Alitdore and Donavan on the pitch at the same time.

    Finally some attacking creative players.

We'll play in the Confederations Cup next year, plus World Cup Qualifying (at least that's something we should be able to do well in).

And I'm not sure why the popularity of MLS should effect you, if you like it you like it. If other people do or don't is irrelevant.

You're not being fair to the players on the pitch. I thought they did well enough, but just missed a few opportunities. Heck, even Holden did well, and you know he'll get more playing time now. Missing a few players should NOT make a team weaker and they shouldn't be using that as an excuse for not performing. :( Even Honduras let me down.

randomdude, are you saying they sent an "incomplete" team? :D

I really thought this was the best chance to medal. It's a shame 2 stupid fouls cost us a chance to advance (Orozco today & Adu's yellow against Holland). Hopefully Altidore & Adu get meaningful minutes at their respective clubs this season so that they can contribute more to the senior team in qualifying and the other cups.

The popularity does make a difference when watching from home. There is nearly not as much excitement in the stadium as there is while watching the English Premiere League.

Also, popularity affects media attention such as having analysis on ESPN and longer highlights. I understand what you mean when you say irrelevant but it would be nice if the sport was more popular in the U.S. creating more buzz. You can't talk about the MLS with your coworkers and an increase in popularity would change that.

I wish I could be disappointed that the Americans lost, but .... up Nigeria!

And don't you be dissing my boys like that, DD. The Americans choked, yes, but I think anyone familiar with international soccer knows that sheer skill, flair and athleticism have always been Nigeria's strengths. Usually discipline is our Achilles heel ... just so happened that the USA team was the one with the discipline problem today.

Ahh, I see what you mean. It would be nice if MLS were treated better by soccer fans. If everybody that went around wearing ManU, Barcelon, Boca Juniors, etc. jerseys would support the league the stadium atmosphere would improve a lot.

It's slowly getting there but it's going to take a lot of time and money.
