I was wondering where the quarterly "Astros Are Racist" thread was gonna show up . I had a feeling this trade for Jennings would bring it up . If we would have traded for Dontrelle Willis , everything would be different . You know though that there would still be someone saying " Looks like the racist Astros finally signed a black player ! " .. Its a no win situation with the Stros IMO . The Rockets and the majority of the NBA are racist I guess . I mean , look at the lack of white guys .
that's because there aren't a lot of white guys in the NBA to begin with, but the are a plethora of minorities in the MLB.
Only whitey can be racist, afterall whitey conquered space, split the atom etc.....everyone else who isn't white will hate whitey.....
why is it, people only b**** and whine about black and white, and then also Hispanics. I don't see no asian players on the team. I ran into Drayton at a Klan rally just the other night and congratulated him on doing his part to keep the black man down in H-Town. He raised his burning cross in acknowledgement.
I guess they are, the biggest contract in the history of the Astros goes to that damn white guy Carlos Lee.
On the active roster, the Astros have: Zeke Astacio Miguel Asencio (the other guy that came with Jennings) Juan Gutierrez Fernando Nieve Felipe Paulino Del Guidice Wandy Rodriguez Hector Gimenez Humberto Quintero Charlton Jimerson Carlos Lee Orlando Palmeiro That's about 29% of the team. So you say, ok fine, but how many of them REALLY contribute to the team: Well, last season Nieve, Wandy, and Palmeiro saw a lot of action while Jimerson and Quintero made minor (very minor) contributions and Astacio saw major action the previous season. So you can expect Nieve and Palmerio and Lee to be major contributers with Wandy probably sucking it up in some fashion and Quintero going every fifth start.
So you're not looking for any particular ethnic group, just anybody but a white guy eh. Why does it have to be about race? Why not just look at whether the guys they get are good players? And the Stros have had plenty of hispanic players over the last several years. Taveras, Alou, Beltran, Hidalgo, Vizcaino, Lugo, Dotel, Merced, Chavez, Astacio... They have Lee, Quintero, Nieve, Wandy Rodriguez, and Asencio all likely on the 25 man roster to start next season. I understand that's far from a majority of the roster, but it's not like the team is bereft of minority representation.
i'm gonna assume you mean african-american, b/c the stros have had plenty of central american, south american, carribean players (after all, its baseball). However, i think theyve only had 0-1 AA players on the roster at one time for awhile now, can anyone think of when we had more than 1: Preston wilson + ___? (i dont think he's racist for getting rid of preston wilson. MLK would have gotten rid of preston wilson) Brian Hunter + ____? Derek Bell + ____? does eusebio count as black? i dont know how to categorize the black carribean players. You know, looking at this list, maybe mcclane not only avoids black players, but he only picks up ****ty black players to reenforce his racist views!!! seriously though, i'm gonna assume mcclane isnt racist. However, in light of recent events, he is a ****ing idiot.
