Anyone Think Lebron James would sign a 10 yr $750 Million dollar deal if the NBA were like MLB?

Hypothetically, if I had 30+mil to pay LerBon... that would mean I'm filthy rich. Hence I'd probably just spend it on myself.

LeBron was willing to take a paycut in Miami in order to win. I'm sure at some point, he would receive an offer large enough for him to not be able to turn it down. I wonder what his price would be, though.

If there wasn't a salary cap, I'm pretty sure you could make an offer of 100M for Bron and make it worthwhile.Unlike most other sports, basketball only has 5 players on the court so one guy like Bron should have more value to a bball franchise than someone like A-rod on a baseball franchise.

Simmons already noted it but someone like Bron does so many things for you could recoup that money you spent on him and end up getting a trophy, esp. if it's a big city with fanatics like MSG, the owner could double his ticket prices and it'll still be sold out. Add endorsements, viewership fees, playoff money and shared revenue from NBA gear sales and it's definitely a worthwhile investment.

I guess the difference is Lebron is so above the other guys it's not even a joke, you haven't seen this kind of dominance since MJ played, and I think that dude was worth 100M as well just because of how popular Chicago became because of him.

First of all there like millions of physical therapists, surgeons, dentists etc. There only 300 people playing in the NBA, and only handful of those guys are getting max money. NBA players get paid that way because almost anybody can become a surgeon or dentist if they took the training for it but if you don't have talent you won't make it to the NBA no matter how hard you try or how long you practice.

Secondly, you have no idea how economies of scale work. Obviously, you'd prioritize your dentist over seeing Lebron dunk on someone, which is why you'd pay more for your dentist than for Lebron (if you pay at all, it's free on tv). However Lebron has 1000s more customers than your dentist, which is why he makes more. It's the same principle why Facebook makes so much money when it's free for anyone to use it.
