I am not at all. I called at the beginning of the season 45-46 wins. Dillon Brooks and Fred Vanvleet are not average players, and Ime is a great coach. Jalen is turning the corner too. Jeff Green coming back here should have been a primary indicator that there is at least something here. Sacramento and LA are good teams, and we manhandled them. Of course the league will make adjustments, but I feel this team is bursting with talent and has enough to at least get a Play-in bid. Going to be fun as hell if the Rockets and Texans both make the Playoffs, and bridges us to the start of the Astros.
7 games... We beat the Hornets, Kings w/o Fox, and the Lakers without AD. Slow the roll. It is a substantial improvement though.
Man those 3 years of suffering felt like eternity you guys!! I’m so happy and excited clutch city lives!!!
I've already doubled down with a fellow CF bro that our team will be closer to....by the end of the season!!! 40w >>> 20 w Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
So Rockets got manhandled by Orlando, they cough up the game against San Antonio, and Steph Curry plays out of his mind to beat the Rockets. Now the Rockets are on a 4 game win streak, while dominating the Kings and Lakers. The Rockets seem to be playing elite level ball, and by blowing out their opponents on 3 consecutive games, are causing the NBA media to seriously take notice.
We're catching teams by surprise right now. Once they have some film they'll adjust to our tactics. But we have deep personel. You're not likely to keep all of Sengun, FVV, Jabari and Jalen off the scoreboard especialy with FVV/Sengun and Jalen all being capable of hitting the open man while having offensive bags capable of collapsing defenses.
pump the brakes. We're ahead of a lot of teams in the standings we may not be ahead of at the end of the year. Its a long season and the team is still young and learning to play together. That said. I'm super happy with 2 blow out wins in a row (4 total) and the fact that those wins were based on unselfish team play and aggressive defense. Both of those things will win you a lot of games. Go Rockets!
I'm surprised at how early they're showing potential. I was expecting them to click around Allstar break.
Don't know about 2nd round but I am surprised (happily). After first few games, I thought it'd take longer for them to really buy in to the new culture. I thought it would take like half way through the season for them to start getting it and surprise people. I'm happy I'm surprised way earlier
It is very early, but they have played very well the last 4-5 games. I thought they would win 30-35 games this year and I still think that they likely finish in that rage because the season is long and teams make adjustments. Still - very pleased with the start and have no solid expectations of them other than to play hard.
Most impressive thing is that they are playing like a cohesive unit. Even when Green has taken over at times, he picks his spots. The fascinating thing about it is that Green, Alpi, and Smith are visibly getting better each and every game. Fred and Dillion are such stabilizing forces, that they are keeping everyone in-line and on a common target.
Boy we went from "Fire everyone" to "I knew this was going to be a playoff team all along" after 7 games in which two of them were against teams missing star players.
I thought we would compete for a play-in. Looking at the current standings, it’s almost impractical to think we won’t be in the playin at the very least because San Antonio, Memphis, Utah, and Portland are lottery teams. Only the Lakers are the outliers currently in that group and we have to assume they’ll figure it out once everybody gets back to playing for that team. That leaves the last spot for Houston and New Orleans and McCollum is probably out long term and Zion always misses a huge chunk of the season and Pelicans don’t have the depth to overcome that
