Giving up two first rounders and KT might be enough to get Lewis but I think we would be giving too much for getting him.Lewis is a good role player with good upside but his weaknesses have been well documented by MManal,I would be happy if we could move up in the draft to get Joe Johnson provided we end up keeping the the 23th pick to get Ken Johnson or Steven Hunter. ------------------
RichRocket, I just stumbled on him while trying to figure out Doc Rocket's cryptic messages. I know nothing about him & had not even heard of him. The only thing I know about him is what the link indicates. However, the bio indicates that his stats improved every year & he has a very consistent & improving 3 point shot. He at least sounds like a perfect fit with our guard's style of play, but who knows. ------------------
OK PINETREE NOW YOUR GETTING PERSONAL. I LIVE PERMANATLY IN THE LUFKIN AREA, AND I THINK WE HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH CULTURE AROUND HERE! BUT IF ITS NOT GOOD ENOUGH AROUND FOR YOU, TAKE IT BACK SOUTH! CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY, THERES ROCKETS FANS EVERYWHERE OUT THERE! ------------------ Rockets For Better, For Worse......'til death do us part!
It's a special thrill to see kids like Rashard Lewis and Alton Ford play high school ball, or trot out to San Jac to see a Sam Cassell or Steve Francis. BTW, someone somewhere on the boards talked about height of these guys. Cat is about 6'2" and Steve about 6'1", but now days, everyone coming in is listed about two inches taller than they really are. And Moochie MIGHT be 5'10". ------------------ [This message has been edited by PinetreeFM60 (edited June 17, 2001).]
Pine: Why did you edit out all your posts, both in this thread and another thread, more than 24 hours after posting them? Do you not stand behind your comments? ------------------ I always thought "With my talent, it's only a matter of time before I'm discovered". Behad - Maybe he's not altering his position but EXPANDING upon it. Why do you think we have such a complex legal system in the US of A?? ------------------ Raef to Rocks in '01-'02! [This message has been edited by GATER (edited June 16, 2001).]
I can remember the day lewis was drafted I watched it on ESPN he felt he was shafted by the Rockets when we didn't pick him and he was in tears when the first round ended he was the third pick in the second round and he was mad at rudy for not picking him by what he said in his post draft comments and to this day I would think that he does not want in any way to be a Rocket ------------------

1972, you are right about the bad experience Lewis had in draft, but he has been interviewed several times in more recent years, and has indicated he would not hold that against the Rockets. He has also implied that he might enjoy playing in Houston. It is his hometown, and he has not been treated as well by McMillan as he might have hoped for. He's still not quite 21 years old, and would probably love a chance to come back and be a hometown hero. I've read nothing to indicate he is opposed to playing in Houston, or that he holds a grudge about the draft situation. Considering that his relationship with his new coach is supposedly not that great, and that Seattle may be headed into Clippers territory for several years, he might just love a chance to prove how wrong the Rockets were when they did not pick him. And with Steve and Cat to set him, combined with Rudy's system, there is no telling how many treys he could knock down in 2800 minutes of playing time per year. ------------------
For the record Pinetree, I'm 5'10". I went up to Moochie to bug him about Cat last year at the Rocky Mountain Revue and he was 6'0" at least. <em>or maybe that was the fro</em> Nope! It was eyes, I distinctly remember having to look up at his eyes. ------------------ When this guy started smoking 40 years ago, people had no idea it was bad for you. People had to guess based on the hacking cough, shortness of breath, and bloody phlegm girl you looks good won't you mock that draft up?!
1972- Before I state any opinion I would like to say that 1972 was a great year(It has nothing to do with the year I was born. Ok, it does) Rashard would love to be a Rocket! No matter what any newspaper says. He wants to come home. ------------------ Fuggetabout it
For the record, Achebe, I'm 6'1 and I've met Cat, Steve and Moochie, and Steve is my height, Cat and inch taller and Moochie about 3 inches shorter. ------------------
Well at least you're hanging out on this side first Jimbo. Pinetree, I'd have to say that I disagree on this one. I've taken a couple of undesirable/desirable jumps off of 25' rocks... but I'm apparently still 5'10" according to the bad guy tape at the 7-eleven. Moochie was taller than me and the short so saucey African American that sits on the bench. ------------------ When this guy started smoking 40 years ago, people had no idea it was bad for you. I've thought about your comment, and I was wearing Cowboy boots when I met him. I was judging by eye level. Maybe he is 5'11", but he sure seemed to be about three inches shorter. BTW, people laugh about the 'Fro, but I think it is a smart thing for him to do. It adds about three inches to his defensive height, and he needs all that he can get. I can imagine that seeing the basket over the 'Fro is a lot tougher for anyone under 6'2" than seeing over the cornrows. ------------------
Behad, Probably because he recognized the difference between the bumper car action at this BBS and the demolition derby mentality at the other BBS sites that thrive on anarchy. We often bump each other on this BBS, but very seldom do we demolish each other. Thank you Behad and PinetreeFM60. Mango ------------------ Get it right or just don't do it! Hey, who would of thought this baby would still be going. Did we ever come to a consensus on whether or not three picks, Moochie and Kenny was too much to trade for Rashard Lewis. I still think it's too much. BTW, I went to Houston this weekend and lost about 10lbs due to blood loss (mosquitos) and sweat. I flew to Phoenix today and it's 110 freaking degrees. I wonder whether or free agents let these kind of things effect their decisions. If it was me, I would be packing my sh*t for Vancouver. With or without a team. ------------------
You think this is Jim? I don't know. Maybe if he really wants to get us let our guard down first, but why? Jim's intention is to agitate. Why go to all this trouble? Besides, Pine edited out all his inflammatory comments from this thread. I can't see Jim doing that. BTW, Pine, I'll ask again, since you didn't answer me the first time: Why did you edit all your posts 24 hours later? ------------------ I always thought "With my talent, it's only a matter of time before I'm discovered". To Bigboymumu those post draft comments were from Lewis himself and on ESPN I know he is from the area because like him I went to Alief Elsik High school though I never met him my last year there before graduation was 1991-1992 and yes I to was born in 1972 TO PINETREEFM1960 I agree with your assessment if the new Seattle owner starts acting like the clippers owner he will lose a lot of money and his stadium will become empty. ------------------
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sports/134306863_soni15.html The rumors have begun. Unfortunately, I don't see the Rockets or Rashard mentioned anywhere in this article. Come on Rockets, get in the game. ------------------
