The way I am looking at this,
if we were to trade all 3 picks and move up to get the 4th 5th or 6th pick in this years draft.

Then is the number 6th pick in this years draft and KT worth Lewis? I think so. But not with Moochie in the deal.

I don't see the Rockets keeping all three picks.

Maybe 13,23 and KT and Moochie for lewis leaving us one pick to get T. Morris(Steve's boy)

I would like to trade anyone on the Rockets for a time machine. Go back in time and slap Rudy on that memorable draft day and make him pick R. Lewis instead of Drew that foreign guy. [IMG] If I could do that then the Rockets would have Lewis and still have the picks to move up and not need a SF.

MManal had some good points up there. I'd like to add one more:

Did Tracy McGrady have Gary Payton on his team? No. Did Rashard Lewis? Yes.

Playing on a team with the best PG in the game when there aren't many other talented players is GOING to give you some good numbers. The defense has to concentrate on Payton, and Lewis got a lot of good looks off of Payton's penetrations... and hte defense couldn't focus on him.

Before you go to ga ga over Lewis, remember the circumstances he played in.

I would *love* to have Lewis. But I join the consensus here: two first rounders and KT. No more.

I think Rashard would work well with the current Rocks, but....

I can't see trading for Rashard Lewis when he has a Player Option in 2002-2003. If he wants to be here, sign him outright AFTER the coming season. If he's happy in Seattle, we didn't want/need him anyway.

If you trade for him now and he becomes unhappy in Houston, you have given up 2 or 3 very valuable draft picks for someone who is only locked in for 2001-2002. Pretty risky IMHO.

    Haven,

If anything, playing with Gary Payton has hurt Lewis' progress. He's pretty much excluded from the offense for the most part, and has never really been able to show what he could do. His stats don't tell the whole story.

The page wouldn't open. Just some lighhearted fun intended. Hope your intent was the same.

Just for the sake of decorum, I will say again that Rashard is worth a look, but he is a Dillard's product at a Neiman Marcus price...wait for the discount that will inevitably come when Seattle goes 30 and 52 next year without Payton.

Laying it on a little thick there, huh Pine?

    successfully sued?

As a lawyer, wouldn't the proper phrasing be "won judgements against", or "successful litigation"

Hell, I've successfully sued plenty of people myself. But winning is another matter.

Pine, take your high and mighty alter ego to some sex chat room somewhere.

I trust the Rockets management in making solid picks in the draft. So far the only bad pick they've made is passing up on Lewis. They did the best they could with last year's pick. Roleplayers are all over the place in the draft, you can't say the top 5 players picked in this draft will be stars, it NEVER works out like that.

Mobley was a 2nd rounder and I'm sure when we drafted him, he was only thought of as being a roleplayer.

With 3 picks and another player, the Rockets could probably trade for a superstar like SAR. Lewis isn't worth 3 picks, nor do I think he's being shopped.

Lewis isn't even mentioned in that article, the GM said they'd give anyone up for the right price.

Translation: If we find someone that will overpay for Lewis, we'll do the deal then.

It was a mistake to not draft Lewis, it would be an even bigger mistake to trade 3 picks in a talent rich draft for him.

    2 wrongs don't make a right.

Lewis will be good, but so will Mobley, and so could any of those 3 picks.

We have too many holes to trade away the draft for just 1 guy.
