If I was Salma Hayak's kid.. I'd be breast feeding till 50.

 

Extreme parenting seems to be popular these days. I think it's some competition between the mothers... who says yes to everything their child wants? Who sleeps in the same bed with them the most? Who breastfeeds the longest?

It is strange how many people are not only pro-breastfeeding, but argue with others about their choices. Often even pumping/ supplementing with formula/ stopping breastfeeding early/ quitting because it hurts makes you a "bad mother" to these people. And how many want to keep breastfeeding as long as they can get away with. I would think the opposite, that you would want to stop as soon as you thought you could, unless you enjoy being a human cow. Maybe they are getting pleasure from it; I've heard stories to that effect. Which is just creepy with the kid around.

Some of us would rather not do it at all, or as little as possible. In today's environment we don't dare admit it.

 

I find the exact opposite reaction, this thread being an example. Most people seem almost horrified to see mothers breastfeed - in public, past 6 months, etc. Of all the things that are natural to do with a woman's breast, people would rather see woman use it for all those other things than breastfeeding.

I have a cousin who didn't give a da** where she was. She'd pop her titty out almost infront of anyone. I'm my way back to houston from alaska (thats where they live) I saw a lady whip it out and feed her child in front of everyone at the airport. I said to myself wtf does everyone here do that geez But hey. The childs gotta eat right.
