You saw glimpses of his true personality when everyone saw how he handled situations involving him with the injuries negatively almost every single time. How he managed to piss off every team he has ever been with. How he only tries in certain games, and blows off most others. How he goes from one year saying it's all my fault, and then the next year... oh wait don't blame me. It's not my fault. It's how he settles whenever he gets his points in and tells us he couldn't do more. Yes, you could do more, you just didn't. How his over-inflated ego has knocked him off every contender's wish list, and him having to settle with the Detroit Pistons of a veteran's minimum contact, where he isn't even expected to get significant minutes. That is the Tracy I know.
Reading some your previous posts made me realized you aren't too fond of Tracy McGrady, but even when making disparaging remarks you should at least remain semi-factual. There are many things you can bring up to complain about McGrady, but the Utah series without Yao is not one of them. The Rockets were missing their starting center and point guard, and Shane Battier was playing with an injured ankle. Scola was a rookie in the NBA as were Landry and Brooks. Other than B.Jackson, who was forced into a starting role, there was no scoring from the bench. The 'pieces' that imposed their will on Portland and the Lakers were vastly different those two playoffs
That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw it. That's why so many players get pissed off at Scola -- he makes them look lazy because he plays so damn hard all the time.
Nobody here was complaining when tmac was taking pain killers during the 07-08 playoffs against the jazz and ended up with 40 points in game 6 when we lost(IT WASNT HIS FAULT WE LOST). The guy had 2 surgerys the same month and another on his knee since and his body has not responded like it was supposed to. Your gonna sit there and say that if tmac hadnt gotten hurt you would still hate his guts because he has horrible character?? People got mad at this guy for wanting to be on the court(even though he was still injured/recovering) last season. WHEN THE F*** DID HE QUIT ON THIS TEAM?-HE WAS HURT!! and if you say after the Bucks game when he missed the dunk, i think that was the wakeup call that he wasnt healthy(hence why he had the second surgery). and FYI: Even after 3 of yao's seasons were cut short by injury, you never saw tmac badmouthing him or asking for a trade to a contendor or anything of the sort. I understand youve gotta blame someone for the the Yao/Tmac duo not succeeding, but you people(whadiyou meen you people?) are like an angry mob just chasing the easiest person to catch and acting like theyve been the problem all along... Hate to break it to you but Yaos been the biggest hinder this team has had the last 4 years...I love yao to death, but its true.. Yao just opted into a 17mil contract and hes predicted to only play 25 mpg once hes cleared to play. Are you gonna bust his balls too if things dont workout this year...
Do you people realize that the 2007-2008 season was more than just about Tmac? Yes, Tracy did have a great year, almost MVP level. But that year also included Mutombo finding his youth and filling in admirably for Yao. Rafer and Luis stepped up their games. Carl Landry exploded mid-season and was dunking on people on a nightly basis. Bobby Jackson was providing much needed energy off the bench. Even small role players like Mike Harris and Steve Novak had their moments. Almost every player on that team had something to contribute to the team's success, in particular during the streak. This highlight video is better since it shows the balanced team play that the Rockets showed that season.
I still remember he played a full 48 minutes agaist New Orleans during the streak. It was a good memory. He did bring us a lot of fun. And I don't doubt his attitude to games although I think he should speak less than he did.
I honestly forgot that at one time TMac could jump. Sucks he's a complete shell of himself. Other guys might be more enjoyable to watch but you'll struggle to find another player who played with such a smooth game.
