Right, but, from what I've read, it is pretty much useless to try to defend yourself from laser.

These waves move at the speed of light, and return to the cop car before you can take your foot off the accelerator.

My dad let me borrow his escort 8500 a few weeks ago for a road trip and it performed very well. I used to have a top model from uniden (cant remember model #) untill it was stolen. The escort was much better at filtering out false alerts than my past detector. From my limited experience i would reccomend to anyone looking at detectors to only by the top models from escort or valentine. If you are looking at lesser detectors you may be better off not buying one at all.

I still think the Valentine One is the best radar and laser detector on the market. I like the direction arrow and bogey count on the device and you will never need to buy a new radar because you can send your radar in and they will exchnage it for there newest one.

Hey candycane, have you checked this out. Sounds pretty good to me. If you don't like this check out those test sites which were mentioned above.

Thanks everyone for your input, it has all been helpful. But, all of the sites and examples you all have given me are very costly. I am still debating on whether to spend that much money on a radar detector. I prefer something cheaper than the choices you have given me.

Yeah, laser detectors only detect it when your actually hit by the laser...by then your already caught.

Plus most really high end laser guns that State Troopers use can hit you at about 1000 yards, far from you ever seeing the Trooper and way before your detector can pick up his radar.

you may get a laser detection off a laser hitting the car ahead of you, which may give you enough time to slow down. Thats what I hope for anyway. I follow a speader about 150 yards behind and hope they get lasered first. Hasn't failed me yet and I've had 2 people in front of me (on 2 different occasions) get pulled over after my radar/laser detector detected laser while I slowed down and didn't get stopped. My radar/laser is a Bel. The best feature is the auto mute where it beeps twice then clicks while it is going off. I think I paid between $250-$300.

I wish i had a laser/rader detector. I got a damn citation thing today about nine oclock this morning.

I have to go to the Bellaire Court. That is where my speeding violation was. 55 in a 40. I thought feeders were 45 or 50 or something. Man Bellaire sucks.

I was suppose to exit Bellaire blvd, but missed the exit, so I took the next exit which was Evergreen I think. I was going maybe 65 or so on the highway when I exited, but I was still maintaining my freeway speed. I exited the freeway at about 55 I guess, cause that is what they clocked me at. It sounds ****ty.

How do I dismiss a ticket without jacking up my (dads) insurance, and clearing it up with my records?
