Anyone know how I can get an internship with the Rockets or volunteer?

    What up everyone I'm new! I'm an Orlando Magic fan, but born and raised in Houston therefore I have no choice but to be a Houston Rockets supporter.......Just had to get that out the way as I plan to remain active on this board once the season starts! If this thread is in the wrong section, feel free to move it to the right one please and I apologize.....

    Now to the title of the thread, I'm a junior in college majoring in Sports Management and after two years working as a Team Manager for our college Basketball team I have now resigned and am ready to experience working in the NBA which is one of my career goals. does anyone know if there are Team Managers in the NBA? I applied for internships on the Toyota Center's website earlier this year for a Basketball Operations internship but received no response. Has anyone ever or currently works/worked for the Rockets and know anything about the process with this? My ultimate career goal is to become an Agent, Trainer, Coach or really anything involving basketball. I can't play basketball worth a **** but I love the sport and am well educated with the knowledge of it. You all probably didnt care to know all of that but I shared it anyways lol........so yeah if anyone can help it will be very much appreciated!

    I think there has to be a season before you can get an "intern" job doing basketball operations. that's just my thinking....

    Have you tried going down to Hilton Furniture and talking with him about resurrecting the Houston Comets. You might be able to work your way as GM & Head Coach, if you bring them back....

    Watching sports is fun but working for a sports team would be a nightmare. No one I have ever talked to that has worked for one has enjoyed it.

    It's nearly impossible to get those jobs, though. People with PHDs applied and were willing to work for free.

    We have a closet full of brooms for most of the interns. Experience is key though. So we must ask before we can just give you the opportunity, do you have any experience with being swept, having seen a sweep, or a general feeling of what it might be like being swept?

    Advice to you -- don't work in sports, even if you love sports

    1) Your love will become drudgery
    2) When you're working (at a game, for example), you're around people who are not working, which makes your job seem that much worse
    3) You'll never get paid squat because there is always a line of people willing to work for peanuts or even free

    just something to consider

    But yeah, this is probably your best option. Play center. And how did you achieve member status admitting to being a Rockets fan by default and with 1 post?
