Samsung and Cingular can bite me. I know it has nothing to do with what you're asking for but I hate them and wanted to let you know.
So... 1) You're jumping ship to Samsung (quitting or terminated), and someone else is taking over your position. 2) You're jumping ship (quitting or terminated), and someone from Samsung is taking over your position. 3) Samsung is buying Gizmondo (Tiger). 4) Gizmondo (Tiger) is buying Samsung. 5) You actually have a boat, and you want someone from Samsung to captain it. Have I covered all the relevant options?
Ok, I did a summer with them in manufacturing (they hired 12 engineering students for a summer as manufacturing specialists and called it engineering training, well they did give us some back ground on the manufacturing process and let us tail a process engineer for a day so it wasn't all bad, not to mention an interview for a processing engineer position my senior year of college. I didn't do well in the interview though probably wouldn't have taken the job anyway.... had nightmares abou the bunny suits). As a company, they are definitelly a Korean company, very strict , looks to maximize revenue at every oppurtunity. They didn't really have that much D&D in the states, (I remember they said it was almost all back home in Korea, mostly process engineering in Austin if I remember). Strong company though, seem to have good finincial base. Well oiled machine as a company I must say. Negative side, http://www.insidedenver.com/drmn/other_business/article/0,2777,DRMN_23916_4156797,00.html 300 million dollars for price fixing penalty. So the ethic issue comes in, if that's important to you. Though on the flip side, it seems that it was industry wide so I don't know how much of the blame should be placed on them. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000080&sid=a5_Ov03DTr4c They are also in a legal fight with rambus over key patents. Infineon is already paying rambus in a settlement. Don't know about Samsung's situation, but they are much bigger, sold more chips and if they lose or settle, it'll be much bigger than the 150 million dollar that Infineon paid.
Not a big fan of Samsung products at all.....find them to be of tawdry design and cheap quality......much prefer the other big Korean manufacturer, LG
The company I am working for also has tons of cash, and is going to pay 11.3 billion $ in cash to buy another company. But it will screw every penny from anyone who does business with them.
