Well, now that May, Bertuzzi, Ruutu, Cooke, etc are gone I don't hate them as much, admittedly. I started hating the Canucks during that era. Burrows has it coming, though. I enjoy a good convo with Canuck fans.. although that is hard sometimes (especially if you try on Canucks.com).
There all homers. Especially Woody. I remember when he wrote that Jaxsonville Jaguar bash fest when they faced the Broncos.....If you watch football you know what happened.
That top line in Ottawa is nasty even in a down year and LOL @ the Gaborik-McGrady comparison. A lot of truth to the latter. I created an NHL thread in the Hangout. Join in if you are interested.
The media is garbage as a whole. Just like the refferees we get no respect and we get a ring they will still say we made it bye on luck. Boston and L.A. get all the calls based on who they were, kinda shows why there are who they are now. Imagine Rockets without Yao Ming with 4-5 fouls every 4th quarter. I'll trade that for T-Mac's Injury anyday. Always funner when the underdogs win.
Just for fun, let's compare this year's team to last year's, a team which took the Jazz to 6 games before bowing out minus two of their three highest scoring players for most of the series: 1. Subtract T-Mac 2. Add in Yao and Ron Artest. Ok the case should be closed by now as to which team is better. But let's just follow the whole thing through because we can... 3. Another year of experience for ROOKIES Scola, Landry, and Brooks. This might turn out to be an even bigger difference-maker than the Artest acquisition, seeing as how Brooks is now our starter and Scola a probability to go off for a double-double every night now. 4. Substitute Kyle Lowry for Rafer Alston. That's an upgrade. Morey said so. My eyes say so. 5. Substitute Luther Head for Von Wafer at backup SG. No more playoff facepalms? I hope so. 6. Substitute Brent Barry for the rest of our bench from last year (Bobby Jackson?) 7. Give Battier a healthy foot. It's underrated how much his injury in last year's playoffs hurt his play. Conclusion: this team is miles ahead of the won last year. We had an insane stretch early mitigated by one of the easiest 14-game stretches ever, and our team carried that over to win another 8 games remarkably. But by the end of the year we fought the tough teams and came on the short end too many times once again. This year, we are facing the hard teams and beating them. We will be a force to be reckoned with.
I agree Redao, when Brooks has a bad game it doesn't seem to hurt us as much. When Rafer had a bad game he starts ball hogging and trying to make up for it and just screws up the team. Say what you will about Brooks but it is no coincidence that we are 16-4. In that sense he has been phenomenal. Oh and in deense of the announcer's phenomenal quote... He probably was watching the nationally televised phoenix game when Brooks went head to head with Nash, made a awesome drive past Shaq, scored 30 points and the Rockets won. He was phenomenal that game and since most of them probably only watch the national games they might be inclined to still believe Brooks is phenomenal. Off topic who else thinks this last 20 games was more impressive than the 22 game win streak last year. We had the toughest schedule of our season and the league in our last 20 and we could easily 20-0 with a few breaks. Amazing whatever idiots don't the Rockest have been impressive lately are idiots!
You took the words out of my mouth... actually your word are better. But I obviously agree. I am so impressed with this stretch run and I think Artest will give us a toughness in the playoffs that other teams will fear. Anything can happen but this is the most excited I've been since we traded for Drexler and started kicking but in the playoffs.
The more ignorant statement was Woody Paige calling our team a scrap heap. I would call it offensive, but why would anyone allow idiots like that to offend them? The thing is, it's easy enough to find out who has respectable knowledgable opinions about a sport and just copy their opinions to sound smart. But these guys can't even do that.
Oh cool, they are already hyping the Magic vs Celts for the 2 seed on wednesday. I'm surprised it isn't being switched out for the Miami Wade's against the Pacer. Don't they have to find out who's the MVP?!??! Funny how when us and the Spurs are playing for the 2 seed it isn't even mentioned and is tossed aside. Yet this Magic and Celtics game they are already reminding you it's going to be on wednesday. I hate media bias.
