It's ESPN, what can you expect I forget who, but an 'analyst' (and I use that term loosely) said a few weeks back that with McGrady out, it'll give more chances for players like Aaron Brooks and Luther Head to get minutes. Seriously... ?
As a die-hard, die-hard NHL fan, let me tell you that they know nothing about hockey either if it doesn't involve Sidney Crosby or the New York Rangers. They're clueless. Maybe they should just stick to baseball and college.
That's what i'm talking about and they are paid for their 'expert' opinions on sports...yet they make comments like this and you wonder if they have even watched one rocket game. IDK what I was doing watching ATH, I usually just watch PTI and Sportscenter at night to see the highlights of the game...but when I heard that Brooks thing and then that one guy name like 5 teams not the Lakers or Spurs better than us I was just wondering what was going on. Also I understand the whole we have to earn respect...but Portland...PORTLAND!?!? Everyone in the West wants Portland except for the Lakers.
They are not professional sports analysts. They are on ATH or PTI etc as professional entertainers. So, if you're entertained they have done their professional job. If not, be like me - avoid them as the waste of time they are.
PTI is an awesome show with Wilbon where they do **** like roleplay with masks of Kobe and Yao on. Around the horn is a craptastic bombastic show with 5 white steven A smiths shouting about crap they have no clue on the truth is most sportscasters do NOT watch the game they're speaking on... at best they'll have watched the highlights and have a talking sheet prepared for them by their research assistant (and that's IF they're good if not they're just talking out of their asses with generalities and they never get called on it) if it's not LA or CLE they probably haven't seen the game... maybe SA or Miami. they're for sure haven't seen the vast majority of rockets games
ya, that was the only time, and Wilbon sometimes give some props, that guy Skip is the dumbest dude on ESPN ever tho
Not many hockey fans around here. I've been a Caps fan since the early 80s. My father used to get season tickets when we lived in DC and split them with friends to save money. I went to about 10-12 games for about 15 years until I went to college and later moved down to Houston. How did you get into hockey and what team do you follow? The Stars? Sorry for the hijack. Maybe we should create an NHL/hockey thread in the Hangout.
ESPN is too busy talking about the lame things LeBron does before games like pretending to take pictures of the team to mention the rockets
I think Hollinger's good, he may use stats (and create them) but he knows there are many variables in basketball that can't be described by simple arithmetic and he does his best to explain them all the time. ESPN or any sports network employs the people who are the most entertaining. They're not in the education business.
It can't be PTI cause Wilbon loves him some Rockets and the other dude is a pretty fair minded fellow who tells it like it is.
The joke is that some of you guys are whining about Brooks instead of giving him AND Lowry credit. It's taking both of these guys for the Rockets to win.
Around the Horn is my favorite show on ESPN....but I really dont care if the Rockets get props or not. They just need to keep handling their business on the court and everything else will take care of itself.
The only sport I follow is NBA basketball, and those guys on PTI probably follow fifteen different things. I strongly doubt they put in as much NBA time as many of us on this board. And they're about 10% as familiar with the Rockets as we are.
Those Quacks are not sports analysts they're entertainers. Just a bunch of loud mouth guys that espn got together to make a show. They play to ESPN's agenda but as I heard once, "If you suck ass long enough, you'll end up choking on s&%t".
I followed the Stars loosely, but since Houston has no true team I fell in love with the Minnesota Wild during their 2003 playoff run. Wes Walz is/was my favorite player. My folks live in Phoenix so I'm a bandwagon Phoenix fan as well. Also I found out that the Aeros, coincidentally, are the Wild's minor league affiliate so I make Aeros games when I can. Unfortunately I now live in Utah, which is ALSO a hockey wasteland. I don't want to hijack the thread either but speaking of Caps fans, Green and Ovie are definitely two of my favorite players. Another one of my favorites the Heatley-Spezza-Alfredsson line. I absolutely hate the Ducks and Canucks, as a Wild fan. I also think that Marian Gaborik and Tracy McGrady have a lot in common. /hijack
