Landry is no brainer to me. Thomas has a chance of being a better player down the road, but Landrys brings it just about everytime and he's a man.
Tyrus can compensate for the lack of polish in his game to a certain extent because of his length, athleticism,& shot blocking.Scola is far more professional, polished in the low post and is much harder working. Luis does have problems against the KG's,Dirk's and Boozer's of the league but I doubt if TT can do much against them. Besides we do have Landry and Hayes as well. Our main front court problem is is the absence of a backup center.
I dont understand why Landry is a no brainer to you based on looks...is it because he's got more muscle on him?? Landry is just over 6'7, Thomas is 6'9 and like you said, also has the longer wingspan..
Its not just desire. Dude also has r****ded bball IQ. You can see his eyes glaze over when they're playing a game...
We had him on the team a few years ago. His jersey just said Swift instead of Thomas. Same long body and crazy skill set, but lacked the motivation. He'd have to prove he's motivated before I'd trade for him, and by that point, it's to late because his value would be too much.
thomas has improved his game noticeably this year. his playoff performance was impressive. and i'd love to his athleticism to our team. what does chicago possibly want for him? do we have the chips for a trade?
What makes you think Thomas is taller than Landry. From what I remember Landry is half an inch taller than Thomas. Thomas has the longer reach. Landry is a no brainer to me because thats my opinion.
The fact that both are listed at 6'9 but about a year ago the chronicle mentioned how landry was really just over 6'7, as said by Landry himself. My question was, based on looks alone, why would Landry be a no brainer. I know it's your opinion, but why do you have that opinion...don't get upset about it, it's just a question..
Yeah they always like to round up height for most players...Landry has said within the last year he's just over 6'7, I believe thomas was almost 6'8 when he entered the league and grew about an inch since...
Wallace is also listed at 6'9, but thomas is clearly at least an inch taller....I believe Durvasa mentioned recently Wallace is only 6'7
What did Thomas measure out at the draft combines without shoes, I believe it was 6'7 1/4, because I know Landry measured out at 6'7 3/4 without shoes. They are both exceptional athletes but Landry in my opinion is the better overall athlete due to his strength. One guy averages .59% FG for his career and the other averages .45% FG for his career. I would covet Thomas's shotblocking only because the rockets have none outside of Yao, but I wouldn't do it the expense of giving up a more effecient player in Landry and your best finisher on the team. Forgetting where both were drafted, would you pay Thomas anymore money in a new contract than what Landry is currently getting?
Morey is not stupid, and he likes numbers. Find any number that makes Thomas more attractive as a player than Landry and we might have a discussion. The only way we wind up with Thomas is if he is part of a trade that gets us somebody we need. Noah on the other hand IS a Morey guy and his numbers show it, plus he fills a need at backup center. Morey has already said we would go small if necessary and Noah could be the center for the "small" team. This team needs two players.... maybe three if RonRon leaves. 1. Backup center. could be Noah but it's not Thomas 2. Big two that can shoot and create. - Deng or Gordan(not big but is good) 3. Somebody to replace Ron.... if necessary. Deng could play the two or three - Noah adds grit and toughness and so does Gordan, Deng does not. If we lose Ron we will miss his toughness. They also have Hinrich and Brad Miller who are both interesting but expensive. I like trading with Chicago, they have talent but you want to take the talent not the liabilities. I do believe that they want in the free agent sweepstakes next year so they may be willing to let us raid their talent a little to get TMacs expiring contract, plus TMac might actually like to go there.
I don't think Thomas has enough basketball IQ ... Adelman needs smart guys and hard workers, so I don't think Thomas is an option for the Rockets.
