I bet Cam Newton is a bust as well, and the Panthers will probably pick him for ticket sales as well! Patrick Peterson reminds me of Adrian Peterson on the defensive side of the ball. Both should be top 5 picks but will fall due to needs..

Picking for the Tennessee Titans -

With the 8th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select:

    Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn

The Titans organization is thrilled to have a defensive prospect of Nick's caliber fall to them. Though we ideally wanted a chance at a QB like Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton, those plans changed when Nick slid all the way to us at #8. The National Championship Game had shades of Ndamakung Suh, and we're hoping that he can become what Albert Haynesworth was for us...minus the fat in both the hips and the head.

(BTW - if anyone wants to take over a missed pick for a certain team, feel free to let me know beforehand and I'll gladly hand over the reins. I don't want to be making 10 picks per round or anything, which is a realistic possibility.)

With the 9th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select:

    Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska

The Cowboys could go a lot of different ways here, and I really don't know which direction they'll settle on. Many mocks have JJ Watt going here (or another DE/OLB like Cameron Jordan, Robert Quinn, etc) or even an OT (Tyron Smith), but I have a feeling that Amukamara won't free fall quite as drastically as some have projected. I think the Cowboys will feel comfortable enough with the 2nd and 3rd round talent in the DE/OLB pool to take Amukamara here, who, along with Patrick Peterson, are the undisputed 1-2 punch atop the CB class. While they have CBs who have shown they can play at a high level, last year was pretty abysmal for them in the defensive backfield, and getting an athlete with Prince's instincts would be a great get.

    Draft picks so far:
    1. Carolina - Cam Newton

Washington Redskins select LB Von Miller from Texas A&M University who vows make those 9 teams who passed on him pay...

Dan Synder then realizes that he cannot select a player who has already been selected.

He then decides to forgive the past transgressions of OLB/DE Robert Quinn and bring him to the Redskins and hopefully learn how to be responsible from Albert Haynesworth.

What's interesting about the Current NFL is , if you have a great QB it makes up for a lot of "lack of talent" on the team . But if you have a average / bad QB all your moles look "bigger on the face".

Look at all the teams drafting up on the board , every one of them needs a QB badly , even Cincy might lose Carson Palmer due to various reasons. It is been a while since i have seen so many teams in the league w/o a decent QB .

With the 12th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select:

    Anthony Castonzo, T, Boston College

The Vikings had problems last season with their O-line. It's time to address that area. Castonzo is versatile enough to play guard if needed and is IMO a better tackle than Tyron Smith.

Why not drafting a QB? Well, drafting Ryan Mallett at 12 is a possibility here, but I don't think they take him at 12. I considered trading down and grabbing Mallett between 20-30, but I didn't do it because I think they'll address the QB 'issue' in FA or via trade: Young, Kolb, Palmer, McNabb, etc. BTW, this team's identity on offense has to be a "Run First team" anyway.

    Draft picks so far:
    1. Carolina - Cam Newton
    2. Denver - Marcell Dareus
    3. Buffalo - AJ Green
    4. Cincinnati - Da'Quan Bowers

13th Pick Detroit Lions select : Tyron Smith OT (USC)

Lions were looking at three different positions : OT, WLB , CB. But with Peterson and Prince off the board in the CB spot , the Lions selected the #1 rated OT to help protect Matt Stafford . Stafford has already missed a quite number of games due to injuries , if the Lions want to make noise in the NFC North , they need to keep Stafford healthy.

14th Pick , St Louis Rams select: JULIO JONES WR Alabama

Last season was a good season for the Rams after couple of mediocre seasons. They have a very young franchise QB in Sam Bradford , now they need a legit #1 WR to go along with Bradford to put up points consistently.
The Rams were looking at WR and defensive line , but they decided to draft #2 rated WR on the board to help their offense for the long term future. He is quite gifted and should make a tremendous impact in St Louis soon.

    Draft picks so far:
    1. Carolina - Cam Newton
    2. Denver - Marcell Dareus
    3. Buffalo - AJ Green
    4. Cincinnati - Da'Quan Bowers
    5. Arizona - Blaine Gabbert

With the 15th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select:

    Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama

The Dolphins have had a reputation as being a run-first team and also being one of the innovators of the wildcat formation in the NFL. However, with Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown both being possibilities to leave the team via FA (when it actually occurs), a RB able to take 25-30 carries a game becomes a very pressing need. Most of the Dolphins' needs are on the offensive side of the ball, most notably along the OLine and under center. However, there were no QB prospects worth taking at 15 and the top 2 OL prospects were snatched up right before Miami's pick, making a trade down a realistic possibility. Ultimately, though, this pick makes a lot of sense for the Phins.

    Draft picks so far:
    1. Carolina - Cam Newton
    2. Denver - Marcell Dareus
    3. Buffalo - AJ Green
    4. Cincinnati - Da'Quan Bowers
    5. Arizona - Blaine Gabbert
    6. Cleveland - Von Miller
    7. San Francisco - Patrick Peterson

With the 16th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select QB Jake Locker.

This team truly needs a "QB of the future." Jake Locker potentially could have went #1 last season so this is great value here. David Garrard continues to not live up to his contract and is too inconsistent to get this team to the playoffs. Yes, they might need more defense, but they might not have another chance in drafting another QB who can sit for one year and have great potential to start and play great football.

With the 17th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select DE Muhammad Wilkerson (6-5 - 305 lbs -Temple).

Once again, the Patriots surprise everyone by picking a player who nobody projected to go this high. Most experts have NE taking JJ Watt here, but Bill Belichick has a long history of going against conventional wisdom. Therefore, I fully expect him to shock everyone like he did last year with Devin McCourty who was said to be nothing more than a punter returner at best. Plus, Wilkerson fit's New England's 5-technique like a glove with perfect size, strength, and motor which makes him an excellent replacement for Richard Seymour. He is a trademark Patriots pick. Raiders fans should be mad like hell for letting Belichick fleece them for the second time since the "Tuck" game. Add one more for The Hoodie cause after this draft the Pats are back in business!

    18 Pick , Chargers Select : J.J Watt (Wisconsin)

The Chargers had few options at this pick , they were hoping either Cameron Jordan or Muhammad Wilkerson were available , but they missed them by few picks. They were also interested in a pass rusher like Kerrigan (Purdue) or Akeem Ayers (UCLA). Instead they choose to upgrade their D-Line .

    Draft picks so far:
    1. Carolina - Cam Newton
    2. Denver - Marcell Dareus
    3. Buffalo - AJ Green
    4. Cincinnati - Da'Quan Bowers

With the 19th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select:

    Mike Pouncey, OL, Florida

The Giants' felt that their goal in the first round was to address their aging OLine or to address their LB situation. Though there are many great LB prospects on the board, the early run on OLineman really forced their hand to take the best and most versatile lineman available. Pouncey can switch amongst all 3 interior line positions and can provide depth to a NYG OL that is mostly on the downswing of their career.

Other possibilities for this pick were Aldon Smith, Nate Solder, or Akeem Ayers, but the GMen are confident that they can grab a top rated LB prospect in the 2nd round.

    Draft picks so far:
    1. Carolina - Cam Newton
    2. Denver - Marcell Dareus
    3. Buffalo - AJ Green
    4. Cincinnati - Da'Quan Bowers

With the 20th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select...

    Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri

This pick gives the Bucs an outside pass-rush impact. With Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Cam Newton in the same division, they need to have an outside presence to help with their young interior d-linemen.
