This reminds me of that movie the "Skulls"...where the guy is always being asked by his friends if he's going to join a 'secret society'. LOL, wtf, how is it 'secret' if everyone knows about it? Lame...like this thread. Cmon Ron, pick up your game man!
My grandfather was a freemason. Looked through his materials after he passed, not as interesting as you would think.
I remember when my grandmother died, we found a ceremonial sword in her stuff and I googled the symbols on it and found out it was from the freemasons. I don't know why she had it -- her second husband might have been a mason. The whole thing seems so antiquated. Fraternal organizations were important in 18th century France, but I'm not sure they do much useful nowadays. They remind me of the Fred Flintstone's Loyal Order of Water Buffalos Lodge.
Yeah that's almost exactly how I felt after looking through his stuff. It was neat but that's about the extent of it.
I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't leave too many things behind. I think it's what they do in their gatherings that's more worthwhile. Any evidences of what happens in these gatherings? diaries, journals, etc?
Personally speaking, my business has benefited greatly from the relationships I've established through my 'club's' network. It has opened doors that never would have been opened for me. Instead of struggling to build my business like most do, I have not. My co-workers don't get it but trust me, there are benefits to these types of 'clubs.'
I know lot of people in secret societies at my school (there are a lot here). The rest of the world fetishizes them more than the people actually in them do. It's pretty cool as a social hangout, but not a huge deal. I can say with certainty that none of the crazy stories about power you hear are true (even in the big ones)
Not all freemasons are part of the world elite, as a matter of fact only a small percentage of them are. I'm in a family of Freemasons and Eastern Stars (the sister organization) and any time I talk about anything related to the Illuminati they as if I'm talking Chinese or do the typical dismissal an average person would do.
LOL, maybe the ones the average person has access to. You know how someone says "I've got connections" (usually not necessarily a good friend or family) or how they can "make sure you never work in this town again? Yep, secret societies.
Similarly, when I discuss the Illuminati at family gatherings I too get weird looks. Now I know this simply means that they are part of secret societies themselves. Those bastards!
