+1 for Infiniti. I drive a G35 sedan and love mine. By far my favorite car ever. The new 2014 Q50 looks like a beast. Looks like a Tesla eater.
Its really not a $63k car. A nicely loaded one is about $100k. Why is it not practical? Mine can go about 210 miles between charges. I don't remember the last time I drove that much. Now with Tesla superchargers opening up between major cities it makes even more sense to get it. Never spend on gas again. Elon Musk was able to drive his from LA to NYC. Is it as easy as just going to a gas station? Of course not...yet. I didn't buy it to save money on gas, nor did I buy only cause its electrical. I bought it because IMO its the "coolest" looking high end sedan. You don't see it on the road as much as the Jaguars, Benzs, Beamers, Lexus or Audis. So its unique. People stop me multiple times pretty much on a daily basis to ask what it is. Also, its made in the freakin USA!
sport cars are starting to replicate engine noise, so I imagine that's what would happen. i prefer the real deal especially with a v8, like here with my m3  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10153590445700367&l=6370089038906880612
Ironically, the Q50 is less of a performance sedan than the G37 it's trying to replace. It's more of a "how much tech can we slam into this thing?" car. BTW, in a straight line, the Model S would destroy the Q50. The sad thing is that the release of the Q50 has been a disaster so far with all the electronics problems it's had with its InTouch system and the few cars they've had to recall/buy back from owners that had issues with their DAS steering system. I was going to buy one but decided not to after following early adopters on forums that were basically beta testers for a car that was released before it was ready. Seems like Infiniti is trying to out-German the Germans.
Very nice. My M5 had the Eisenmann Race Oval exhausts on them. Not my video but sounds just like that. Crazy loud and awesome in parking garage. My 911 has Techart exhausts. Not as droning and you can turn it off with a button. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/SmItGf2Kyfc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/9WonDPgcvtc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I agree with the distance handicap, but tesla is installing "charge stations" across America so owners can stop in and have it recharged. I was thinking " dam I can't even drive from Dallas to Austin" Now that's possible. Far from a cross country drive, but its a start. ha ha
A lot of cars look nice with rims and lowered suspension. I like the new Q50 Sport but was disappointed to see the meh reviews.
LOL your benzo is gonna have a **** ton of problems. Hope you got the extended warranty if you plan on keeping it that long.
People said that about BMW too but I drove them for 16 years with minimal issues. I assume Benz is the same.
My best friend has driven BMW's for the last 20 years and he won't own one that is not under warranty. He says too many things break on them. He a light go out in his 330 and it cost 3K to fix the controller. My neighbor had a Mercedes R station wagon and the transmission was 16K to repair. Luckily it was covered under warranty.
awesome, was looking into 911 or M3. I want to get 997 turbo possibly next year if the price drops low enough. yea my m3 has valvetronic also so I can turn it off with a button also
how many other bmw or benz owners do you know? I can only speak my generation of bmw which is e9X m3 owners and that car was built solid and one of the most reliable cars built, rarely any problems as documented on the forums
Goes to show that anecdotally you can find any example to support your argument. I can only speak on personal experience.
Bumping this thread so I can keep feeling inadequate about my financial success every time I visit the Hangout.
Why on earth would you feel inadequate about your financial success based upon a car thread? lol. There are broke-ass people running around in Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes, and rich people driving Hondas, Fords, and Toyotas. I still laugh because I work with a guy who has to tell everybody about the parties he throws, the stuff he buys, the futures trader he is, but at the same time tells everybody he's damn-near broke. Another guy I work with is always talking about "retirement" being a lie and that it's BS you can retire in your 40's and 50's. Then he talks about flying all over the country to concerts and other performances throughout the year. lol.
Looks VERY bland in real life. If you got that kind of cash OP, just dish out a "little" bit more and get the new S class.
