I think the Honda interiors are better than any car in the class, but I think their exteriors are hideous. Especially that new sedan. The 240+ hp engine is sweet, though. The 2 main cars in its class are the Nissan Altima and the Mazda 6. I think it was Motor Trend or Car and Driver that recently reviewed all of them. The Mazda 6 came out on top by a nose, but you really can't go wrong with any of them. They all haul ass and the Nissans and Hondas are usually reliable as hell. Not sure about the new 6.

The Altima is good if you want a 4 door that can haul stuff and also haul ass. :) I'm not a big fan of the Altima's interior though. The 6's interior is a bit freaky, but still looks ok. The fully loaded Accord's interior is sweet from pics I've seen.

I'm in the same ball park as you. I want my next car to be a G35, but the gas mileage sucks on them. :(

Chase has a President's Weekend special going on financing - 3.84% for up to 60 months. It's hard to beat that.

I picked up an IS 300 on Friday. It's pretty sweet, if I do say so myself.....

Still love my Altima. About to pass 28,000 miles and 1 year of ownership, and I have had no problems with it at all.

I've been driving a new Accord for the last week, and for the next 2 weeks since my Jeep Liberty was sideswiped and had the whole rear axle broken.

It really is completely redesigned interior and exterior. There are different trims depending on the color, like wood and aluminum. The heated seats are nice, the moonroof is much nicer, and even the system sounds better- You can get used to the 6 CD in dash.

The car has a very smooth ride, great power, and handles. Personally, I like the new exterior even if DoD doesn't.

I miss some of the perks of the Jeep like mateo mentioned. It really is amazing how in my Jeep, people are suddenly willing to let me into their lane, when they just won't do that in the Accord. While I'm on the Jeep, I have a new respect for it's suspension-it took me one speed hump in the Accord to realize just how smooth the Jeep's suspension is.

I really like those, especially the charcoal/smoke gray ones. Is there anything you don't like about the car?

I guess I'm the only one who wants the Accord with the navigation system. Supposedly it's voice activated. I'd rather get the MP3 Player than the 6 CD in dash/player. I can never build a car on the Honda website cause I always go over budget. I want the wheels upgrade, foglights, moonroof cover, etc...

Well, I'd like one too, but it probably won't fit into my budget either. That, and I never get lost.

    Wish me luck guys.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY - DO NOT TRADE IN YOUR CAR!!!

You will get a royal screwjob if you do. Sell it outright to someone like me who is looking for an SUV this summer. Do you want my 2002 Altima?? I'll let it loose for $15,000. I have to get an automatic for business purposes, and Houston purposes this summer.

The new Accord looks like an old Civic with the HUGE "H" logo on the front grill from the front and Mercedes Benz in the back.

The interior is ok, but not as slick as the Mazda 6. Performance wise, the 6, Altima, and Accord are all about the same.

Gas mileage for my 5 speed is about 20 city and 26 highway.

Only complaints are the suspension/ride and interior is where they skimped out big time. Lots of plastic everywhere you look.

Let me know dude. Im looking at the supercharged Xterra, or possibly a used Pathfinder.

The problem in my opinion with the 6 is that it is seriously underpowered comapred to the Accord and Altima.

    Accord- 240hp, 212 torque
    Altima- 245, 246
    Mazda6- 220, 192

It's also smaller than the other cars. Personally, I'd want a car that is bigger and has more power. On the other hand, power isn't everything, the Mazda 6 probably has better suspension and handling.

IMO, definitely a Pathfinder over an Xterra; take a look at the Jeep Liberty.

I looked at the supercharged XTerras, and it just didn't seem worth it. The supercharged Xterra has the same hp as the V6 Liberty (210), though the XTerra has a little more torque. I thought the overall ride of the Xterra was very average, and everything was an extra cost- power windows, locks, etc. IIRC, the supercharged XTerra gets something ridiculously low like 14 miles to the gallon.

I am just amazed by this. When I am cruising I take extra care to make sure I don't get behind an SUV or Minivan (make sure I pass them before any traffic build-up) that will block my sight. Ya'll are saying most people get out of the way? A crash at highway speeds is a bad deal anyway you look at it, I give SUVs no special treatment on the road. Further, I am no left-lane clogger, but I might let a sedan or sports car get in front of me if we are going the same speed but not likely an SUV.

BTW I am thinking about springing for a Honda Pilot. Milage is very good for the size, takes regular fuel, & uni-body construction (unlike most SUVs with inferior handling/ride). I would have probably gone for a sedan (the one's mentioned or a V6 Passat) or sports sedan (325, 1.8T)--but I want something with more space and some light off-road, bad weather, ability. With the plentiful new SUV-hybrid type choices coming out the only reason I would think to still get a mid-sized to large SUV built on a truck platform is if you do serious, hilly, off-roading (not like you would find that much of that in TX) or need it for pulling.

What do you guys think of the Honda Element? The exterior is fugly, but I heard the interior is really nice. You can get one fully loaded for about 20k. I haven't seen one on the road yet.

I'm in love with the Honda Pilot. My dad wouldn't let me test drive it when I went to Gillman Honda :( If I had the dough, I'd get the EX-L with Navigation. I really want a car with navigation :D You can also get a rear view camera. If I'm getting an SUV I'm going all out (in debt).

Dammit. Of course, I test drove it and absolutely loved it, but I'm too upside down (thanks Mulder, I knew that didn't sound right) on my Explorer that I'd need to put about $3,000 to make my payments close to my current ones. Oh well, at least I like my Explorer a lot.

That's not a stupid question at ALL. You are what the car dealers LIE-nance manager likes to call "upside down" on your car payments; meaning you owe more than the car is worth in trade-in. Check out www.edmunds.com for A LOT of information on what the actual dealer cost is, what others in your zip code are paying, etc. With the info I get at edmunds I have easily saved SEVERAL THOUSANDS on new cars for myself and family members. A fair deal is 4-5 percent over what the dealer paid, not including TT&L. Also make sure that you make your trade in and the new car COMPLETELY SEPARATE negotiations. Do not let one dictate the terms of the other. If the dealer ship starts playing hardball, walk. They need your business a lot worse than you need the car.
    Hope this helps!

Desert-I'm the same way when in a sedan, and try not to get behind the bigger SUVs (Expeditions, Excursions) when in my Jeep. I have found that when I am in my Jeep, other Jeeps, SUVs, etc. are more likely to let me in in heavy traffic than in a sedan. I'm not talking about in a normal traffic flow- I'm talking about when traffic is to a halt before a light, and you need to get over a lane.
