Championships are won by superstars ...look at Wade last season. If Yao/TMac play at a high level, we can compete and create matchup problems for any team. If they don't play well, our role players are irrelevant. Role players only excel when their star players create opportunities ...otherwise the role players would be stars themselves.

All that said, Rafer needs to hit open 3's ...if he does, we'll be fine.

I kind of feel the same way as you... but only against the Suns really. I don't think we can keep up with the Suns currently. We could beat them but we'd have to get lucky... and I'm afraid that would mean getting lucky repeatedly in a 7 game series.

However, against Dallas with a healthy Yao, T-Mac, Battier, and the roleplayers all fitting into their specific roles (i.e. Chuck Hayes starting at PF, not Juwan because with a healthy Yao/T-Mac starting we don't need another scoring starter) I seriously think we can best them. If Yao and T-Mac are on top of their game, and the roleplayers play up to their potential we can take Dallas. Yes sir, I think we can take down Dallas, even though they are a better team... especially if Hayes continues to play such solid D and improve, as he has recently, with his offensive touch. Also, if Skip continues to play on par with his recent output (running the offense very well, good ball handleing and passing, and, most importantly, continues limiting his careless shots), Battier does what he always does, and Juwan, Luther, Kirk, Bonzi(?), and Deke give us solid bench play... I think we can def. take down Dallas.

...But the Suns? Yeah, to win that series we'd need a freak accident involving Steve Nash and Amare getting amnesia and giving up basketball hours before tip off. But never say never!

Agreed, every other team i'm confident we can beat them.
I think we do not match up well with the suns. But if we play our own style i think we can beat them.

With every game we play i know we will win, every now and then i'm wring, but we are a very good team.

    I don't know...

I think we can beat BOTH the Mavericks AND the Suns.

My confidence comes if the team is riding a high wave... i.e. they have had a good string of games behind them; they are starting to peak; Yao and T-Mac are starting to get into a groove; Rafer Alston finally shows some freaking CONSISTENCY :p; JVG says they are ready to face them :D... then I am confident they will give the Mavs and the Suns a BIG run for their money.

Of course, I would lack confidence if vice versa to the above start happening. Example in point... when Yao was out.

I also humbly and most respectfully think that we have the ability to beat the Suns like the Jazz do. It is all a matter of controlling the game.... and I think the most important element to game control is your floor leader. The one who controls the ball and the team. We need MacVP, MingVP and (yes) Rafer Alston to show outstanding leadership qualities and lead the Rockets properly against the Suns.

do not worry, gs will beat dallas in the first round, sa will knock of the suns in the second round, we will meet detroit in the final and repeat last night 4 more times.

or we can just beat dallas in the second round and from there do the same thing ...
