I get them. Kinda funny, I would get them every race right when I would push off the wall for my backstroke start. I learned that I had to stretch my toes (similar to a calf stretch except focusing on bending the toes more) before every race. If I forgot, I would cramp up and couldn't kick. I'll get them every once in awhile still. Just gotta push through the pain and stretch them out. Eventually she should be able to feel when she's about to start cramping and will give her the opportunity to stretch.
I get cramps in my left foot arch more so than in my right, usually at night (maybe a couple times a week) while stretched out on the couch. Foot just seizes up like a muhfu**a. I'll stretch it out and it'll go away, but during that half minute or so I have to shush my wife: "Hold on a second....ay, ay, aaay!"
