A few weeks ago I decided that I was going to risk a vacation. I had been isolating since February. It was literally just home and work for me for 7 months straight. I couldn't take it any more and had to take off somewhere after postponing my vacation twice. I decided to head to Seattle via Denver on Southwest. Both flights were about 1/3 full. Seattle was fine and I had a good time there but of course with Covid many places were closed and everything shut down early. The trip to the Olympic Mountains was obscured due to the fires in California and Oregon, but it was still nice enough. After a few days in Seattle I decided to head to Las Vegas via Southwest on another 1/3 full flight. At that time bars were still mostly closed in Las Vegas, though I did end up at a couple in the Arts district there and had a good time. Downtown Vegas was a madhouse on the weekend like normal and the strip was a bit less crowded though the overall atmosphere was much less muted than normal. Once I got tired of Vegas I decided to just head into the fire and went to South Beach Miami on a 2/3 full Southwest flight. (note that 2/3 full is max capacity on a Southwest flight currently.) This part of my trip I regret. The overall attitude toward wearing masks was nothing like Seattle and Las Vegas. Most people were actually wearing masks and the enforcement in the casinos was pretty strict. That was totally not the case in Miami. It was a cool place and I'd like to visit again when things finally go back to normal, though. I then returned home and isolated for a week. I took a Covid test that came back negative and life is back to the new normal. It's now work and home for me until this vaccine is ready. To answer your question yes I've flown and my recommendation is that it's not completely unsafe. Just do your best to protect yourself and definitely wear a mask as much as possible.
Flu season will be elevated from now till March. Get vaccinated now if you're thinking of a jail break...Don't need extra drama while rolling the dice.
