Cameras have been allowed in most Ballets for a long time... just don't use a flash because it disrupts the dancer's concentration.

if you're in harris county, don't pay them.

if you read the back, they can't become warrants, they don't go on your driving record, and they may threaten to not allow you to renew your car registration until paid... but harris county doesn't enforce this rule.

also, they may say something along the lines of sending it to a credit agencies, but as of 2007 that was against texas law.

in CA they are anywhere from $480 to over $500 depending on when you were caught.

I have received two in the last 4 years and one of them I paid off.

the other, I have not met my end of the deal- community service and defensive driving, and my record has been in limbo since 2007.

I'm not doing anything until I hear from the State and they let me know I have a warrant or outstanding fine.

and yes, money grabbing out of state camera companies have no business doing contracts with cities that make ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE in the area of traffic safety.

Aren't there some license plate covers that blur the image for cameras etc?

I disputed a couple in court. I won each time because the picture quality wasn't good enough to prove who was driving.

One time my wife was driving, and I disputed it, and the judge couldn't tell if the person in the picture looked like me, so it was dismissed.

Or, better yet, simply don't run red lights and stop signs.

There are also ones that increase glare to the point where it obscures the plate as well.

A message to most of the posters in this thread:

The OP was asking for ways to dispute this ticket, not a lecture on following traffic laws.

1,700 tickets were thrown out in League City earlier this year:

    From the article:
Maybe you should go time the light.

I hate those things. I got one because I felt like I could beat the yellow light and it turned red right when I was in the middle of the intersection. It's not like I deliberately ran a red light without regard for human life. ****ing extortionists with they're corny ass political commercials..."red light camaras help save childrens lives" my hairy ****ing ass. Children don't even drive. And they're sure as hell not crossing an intersection by foot or bicycle. They're in they're parents humongous SUVs yelling at them to take their fat asses to mcdonalds. Or their fat asses are sitting in front of the computer or playing video games.

Edit: and I always make a complete stop at all stop signs and at red lights before turning right.

I'm not sure why people are disputing the legitimacy of the law here. Rolling left on red can be quite unsafe, especially as some pointed out with pedestrians. As someone who used to ride a bike to get groceries and other everyday items nearby, I get a clear sense of just how dangerous breaking some of these traffic rules can be, even if the driver supposedly exercise good judgment. And what's the drain on the driver? An extra 1-2 minutes for each trip from work to home?

That said, hire a lawyer and your tickets should be dismissed or down to 1.

The OP also asked this question in his post:

"Who comes to a complete stop in the right turn lane when there's not a car in sight?"

The way he asked that question implies that folks don't necessarily stop at lights when they are red, thus he opened the door to be 'lectured'.

So are you advocating people break the law in order to run red lights and/or stop signs? As a parent, how do you feel about your kid riding their bikes when there are people out there breaking the law like that?

How much money does the state of Texas earn a year through traffic tickets and associated fees?

There's a reason why this state has such a bloated bureaucracy even though it doesn't have taxes.
