My dad and my mom have both gotten tickets at that exact same light for the exact same reason. They both got their tickets dismissed. See what you can do.

I hope there are more red light cameras. I got in an accident because someone ran a red light, and I ended up getting the ticket because that cop was a dumbass.

@OP: Your wife should follow the law and come to a complete stop. If there is a camera there, then make sure you exaggerate how you follow the law.

    Interesting read, thanks.

A lot more interesting than the predictable righteous indignation going on in this thread. She rolled through a red light in a right turn lane, she didn't exactly murder a nun.

bobrek, if you're brave enough to take your afternoon jog at 1960 and I-59 during rush hour, well, you've certainly got more guts than me. LOL.

Take the front plates off of your wife's car.

They won't know who to send the tickets to in the future.

Let the punishment fit the crime. No one is accusing her of murdering anyone... how did you come up with that comparison?

When I am in Houston, I go running through Acres Homes. My friends say I am crazy, but I see a continual stream of police cars while I run.

Did I miss all the posts where people were suggesting a punishment greater than just paying the fine?

Talk to a traffic attorney, every. single. time you get a ticket. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the city should not be running stop lights like a ****ing toll booth. Hire a lawyer and get 'em dismissed.

I got a redlight camera (photocop) ticket once and it was dismissed. I didn't dispute it and even paid the fine but a few months after my ticket there was a lawsuit in MN that ruled Photocop as unconstitutional and my ticket was dismissed. I even got back about $200 of settlement money from the class action suit. Unfortunately the original ticket was $343.

Caveat: The ticket can still be sent to collections. That would be...annoying.

    Such a bloody scam.

I know, right? People used to always get mad at my uncle for shooting his rifle into the air on New Year Eve.

Nobody ever died... what's the big deal?

Right on Red should be treated exactly like a stop sign.

I've gotten a ticket for doing a rolling stop through a stop sign. I also had a co-worker that was recently issues a ticket by a real cop for running a red light when turning right. I'm now very careful to always come to a full stop.

As an aside, I had another co-worker recently get a ticket for jay walking as he crossed an intersection in the crosswalk but while the red hand was lit. FYI.

How did they do it? Go to court? Just ignore them?

I think my mom ignored hers. My dad went to the court place (I think it's the one on will clayton?) and presented his case. Apparently he had stopped at the light for a few ticks of a seconds before he went. That was enough to not have to pay a fine. I think all in all it took him like 20 minutes. I see no harm in trying.

It really sucks though because most times when driving around humble/atascosita it is easy to forget those red light cams actually work. The ones in kingwood never even flash, so I kind of just assume that none do. It's pretty lame.

The best way to avoid a red light camera is to come to a full and complete stop at every red light and stop sign regardless of whether or not a camera is installed. No lameness to it.

It is lame. Anyone who is actually familiar with that particular intersection (i.e. no one else in this thread...) would agree.

    Thanks for the response.

red light camera's are simply a revenue generating function ...and nothing more. I'm glad it'll be on the ballet because citizens will surely vote it down.

Regardless of your thoughts of camera's, you should stop when turning because cops will ticket you too for that.
