well i think im going to see a doc for this. the swelling has gotten worse. the redness has probably grown to about 2 inches in diameter and the pain is getting worse, like a feeling of pressure from the swelling. it's not a horrific pain, but just worsening. i don't want to screw around with this and have it develop into something really bad. and also about that suing...my gf was saying her bro got bit by brown recluse and he was going to sue the apartment complex where he was living at, but he settled with them when they set him up in a new apartment and paid all the move in costs and some of the rent. i dunno for sure since she wasn't a 100% sure.
here are some pics of the development of a brown recluse bite http://www.brownreclusespider.net/BitePhotos.htm
I don't know if he really has a case. I would the hotel was negligent in allowing a nest of dangerous spiders to take up residence in their rooms. They can control it with regular fumigation and cleaning up. He was actually bit by 2 spiders, one he knew about that was living in the closet (regular cleaning would have driven him off since being a 'recluse' these spiders don't like to be disturbed). The doctor thought the second spider must have been under the covers of his bed (because of his routine that night and the location of the bite and the habits of the spider). If that's true, changing the sheets before a customer comes in would have helped. But then, I don't know the prior cases and whatnot, so I don't know if he could win.
This is too funny just last month I got bit by a spider on my head about twice and eyelid once... All of my bites got really big and I had the WORST headache EVER!!! I just used a warm water compress a few times a day and the bumps started to go down and the pain stoped also... I have a 4 post bed with rails at the top that connect the post and turn out the spider had a home up there so now I make sure to dust that thing every week unlike the few times a year I was before...
You can really see how it effects people in so many different ways. Each person had a really different reaction to it.
I bet what you have is not actually a spider bite, but an infection of the hair follicle (furuncle). I think your doc will lance it and give you antibiotics.
Good lord that is funny (disturbing, but funny). _______________________ I killed a black widow in my house a couple of years ago. ~ they're pretty tough until you hit them with a book.
I got stung by something last year, unlike any sting I'd had before and I didn't even know what it was (it was dusk and I was in the garden). It was like a shock to the nerves ... almost felt like an electric shock which just kept shocking continuously.
I got something like that near my Inner-elbow once. It looked like a pimple and everything, just as you described, and was about as big as yours. It had a small black dot in the middle of it. Everyone told me it was a spider bite, so I just let it be that. One day, I tried to pop it, and I guess I was successful, because all this puss came out of it, and it went away after another day or so.
Yeah. I went to stay with my sister and my dad for Christmas in Magnolia(northwest of Houston). The first thing my sister and her husband tell me (as I go to lay down to sleep on her living room couch) was, "They told us to watch out for Brown Recluses here. Especially in that corner."(as she points to the corner near where I was sleeping). I had never been so scared of sleeping in my life. I kept itching, and thinking it was spiders, too.
This reminds me of about 10 years ago, I got a huge lump in my armpit. I was afraid at first that it might be cancer or something. It was about 1/2 inch wide and 1 1/2 inch long. It was very tough feeling (not squishy). It was also very painful. By the time I went to the doctor, it was very painful to raise my arm. When I went to the doc, I was surprised to find out that it was an ingrown hair that had become infected. At the time, I was broke and I couldn't afford to have him cut it open to drain the puss. He said that eventually it would grow a head and drain itself, but that it would be more painful until then. That night, I was going out with my buddies and I showed them why I was in such discomfort and one of the guys got real excited when he found out that it was just a big pimple, so we decided to try and pop it. After some excruciating squeezing, we got a needle and I was able to eventually stick into my armpit. I thought that would release all of the puss that had built up, but that was wrong. Once I got the needle past the skin, I could stick it all the way in with no discomfort. After removing the needle, I was able to squeeze some super thick puss out. It smelled horrible and it was thick and chunky. Really gross stuff. I did the same procedure the next day and the whole thing was gone 2 days later.
i get those. i lance them and i put antibiotics on them when i do get them if they get bad. i actually had one a couple weeks ago that was pretty ugly...lots of pus. this does not have pus coming out of it and the red swollen area has gotten larger to about 4 inches in diameter at the largest part. the black area is still about the same size though, a good thing. when i first got it i tried to pop it cuz it looked like a white head forming but it was nothing, just skin that was seperated from the skin below. i thought it was an ingrown hair at first too. now there is a black spot, could simply be a bruise from the squeezing, at the center and the red swollen area keeps getting larger and larger and the pain is getting worse. this is not just an ingrown hair.
ugh. this thread sucks arse. not because it's bad content, but just because i'm sitting here in the dark and it's giving me the heebie jeebies. there's nothing worse in the world than a spider. and i hate the feeling of walking up my porch at night and running face first into a web. i just hurry and run into the house and swing violently hoping that the spider wasn't on the web. can't do it outside because the neighbors aren't able to see what you're swinging at and they'll thing that you're nuts. no, never been bitten (knocking on wood as i type), but i have see my share of brown recluses (sp?) while growing up here. sorry about the bit, rob. i hear that chicks dig stuff like that though.
well it wasnt a spider bite, but it wasn't as good as a simple ingrown hair either. the doc figure the infection started with an ingrown hair but it got infected with a MRSA bacteria. that is a strain of bacteria that is resistant to almost all antibiotics. i believe its what got into the miami dolphins locker room awhile back, if yall remember that. he said its very hard to get rid of and its becoming much more prevalent. he said he sees like 5 people a day now who think they have a spider bite but have what i have. it used to be isolated to homeless people and people with weak immune systems like with HIV or hepatitis, but now it has developed to the point where its becoming a locker room type of infection and i read there are 2 strains of it that are spread relatively easily. i've been under a lot of stress lately with money and work so thats probably what caused my weakened immune response. but i'm not sure where i would have come in contact with this bacteria. anyhow...he had to numb the wound and cut it open with a knife and squeeze the pus out. i couldn't see when he was squeezing it out but i guess there was a ton cuz he was really getting after it. he got in there about an inch deep and had to pack the wound. they prescibed my some darvoset (sp?) for the pain and didnt stitch the wound. hopefully, i can kick this stuff pretty quickly cuz if not i could be in for a long run of antibiotics and possibly hospitalization if things don't go as planned. also, people who get this one time are susceptible to getting it again (sucks) and also i can't pop pimples or white heads anymore since that would make my body more susceptible to infection. basically, the prognosis is not great. but hopefully, things will get better quickly.
