I'm not a Houstonian, never been there, and not really interested though those steak buffets sound tasty. My interest in the Rockets began in the late 80's with Hakeem, pure and simple.

I've never been on a thread with so many replies and have literally every single person disagree with the original poster.

Theres gotta be a couple of classic quotes in this thread

While I'm certainly not positive, I think Bud Adams owned the name, 'Oilers', and would not relinquish the name to McNair or anyone else. In fact weren't they the Tennessee Oilers for a little while.

Maybe that is why everyone disagrees with you. We have a lot of pride in our city and it's heritage. Since you have never been here, it doesn't have the same meaning to you. But, you may remain a fan if you like. ;)

BTW the name Rockets preceeded Hakeem by about 15-20 years.

Yeah but doesnt the team name originate from San Diego? I personally would have preferredit be changed to some name other than the one from their old city. I dont know any guy who would let their girlfriend keep their ex bf's clothing

Nevermind, I just remembered the ignore feature.

Edit: Only bumping this up because it was already at the top.
