Rockets is a perfect team name for the team.

 

since NASA is here we have to keep the space theme going. astros comets rockets. I remember apollos was one of the final names the were thinking of giving the texans. i didn't really like it but it would have stayed in the theme.

Can we start a thread to have Hakeems name changed to something with more flair to it.. I always thought Hakeem or "The Dream" wasnt that great of a name for such a great player..

And I love the Texans name. Where's that wacky state pride that no one in the rest of the United States understands. Texans rule, and everybody else sucks!

rockets is one of the only franchise names that actually makes sense, along with the astros, and texans i guess. the texans may sound kinda cheesy, but the logo is very cool. besides, when has there been an expansion team that has come out and everybody actually likes their name? grizzlies? raptors? bobcats? devil rays? a lot of team names just sound dumb or have no force behind them, but rockets are awesome! they freakin burn crap up and blow people to pieces or blast people into space! now if we could just get that turbo guy back instead of the bear......

 

Because I don't like your screen name and I think it needs to be changed. Every time I see one of your post I think of that dorky song.... Original Gangster? I see your name and the first thing that comes to my mind is "shot calla."

The Rockets obviously came to us pre-named. Everyone thought it was KISMET! We had the Space Center and all the hullabaloo associated with putting a man-on-the-moon in the sixties. It was just too! perfect to change that name. Meaning no disrespect, but maybe you are too young to appreciate what it was like when we were putting that man-on-the-moon, and LBJ made sure Houston was the middle of it. We literally became the center of the universe.

It was a much bigger deal than today by an order of 10x. Actually, the whole man-on-the-moon, Rockets, Comets, Astronauts, Astro-Dome (8th Wonder of the World), Aeros thing was what put Houston on the map. I'm a native and when I was growing up Houston was not the major International center that it is today. We were well behind Dallas in noteriety.

 

I hope that was a joke and not an actual thought.

I love the name Rockets and the texans should be called the Houston Oilers the Browns kept their name we should have kept ours.

 

Since Houston is also well known as the fattest city in the USA two years running, how about we could change it to The Houston ******?

 

I am pretty sure San Antonio passed Houston. That is why I suggest the San Antonio Figthing Lard.
