Read the whole page and not even one person agrees with U .. But they all agree that CP never had the SG that can handle the paul .. Peja , Posey maybe devin brown but he's gone but in some games where Paul and Collison played togather I saw plays where collison was handling the ball .. I think if he had a DWade a Brandon Roy a Joe Johnson he would of gave up the ball ..
Why is Peja, a player who thrives off his PG feeding him the ball, playing phenomenally better with Collison? You think a combo of Paul and Wade/Roy would be better than those two playing alongside Chauncey Billups or Deron Williams? Guys who give it up when the play doesn't directly lead to an assist. Guys who can think 3 or 4 passes ahead. Paul is a great player, but I think his effect on winning is slightly overrated by those that don't understand what it takes in today's league.
Teams always perform over their heads when their best player goes down. 22 win streak is a prime example of this (although one could argue that McGrady was still the best player on that team). A whole theory was born from this weird phenomenon (Ewing Theory). Some other variables that contribute to Peja's improved play: Coaching change Schedule (only good team they've beaten after Paul went down: Boston without Ray Allen) Shot distribution You can't use a 9 game stretch to prove your point because it's too small a sample size. All we can deduce from this is that Darren Collison is pretty damn good.
And Ronny.... has done it again. I think the Clippers would be better off playing Bledsoe and trading Paul for depth. To win in today's NBA, you can't have guys who feel they're entitled to dominate the ball while compromising the free flowing structure that is team basketball. And while Paul is good enough to make things happen and set up plays when he wants to, it's all too obvious and he doesn't have the ability or speed to offensively dominate. Winners like Stockton and Parker will always be on a different plane because they could let go of the ball at times when it wasn't just about the pass leading to the shot. It's amazing how much better the Clippers looked when Billups was healthy and the ball wasn't in Paul's hands all the time.
I think, as we saw against the Spurs last night, having a point guard that can dominate with his playmaking and scoring ability is useless against a team with an offensive system that makes every player on the floor a playmaker. When your dominant point guard is off his game, the entire offense falls apart. The Spurs don't have that problem. Or at least not to the same extent.
