Why would you ask that question in the thread title? Have you somehow missed all of the Aaron Brooks bashing on this board?
What's going on in AB's head: "Damn I'm the best player on the team, the most coveted, yet I am not getting paid right." "Im gonna try and try and try, hell trade me to a team that will pay me." "Alrite you pay me like a chump and not offer me an extension, so I'm gonna play like a chump. Yeah Rockets manage trade me or pay me motha****az." "Hell, just trade me, imma **** this team up from now on."
You shouldn't get pissed at players for sucking. You get pissed at players for not trying and at coaches for playing players who suck.
AB just looks like his concentration on "speed bursts" is off. He doesn't have the size nor the strength to play any other way. Speed is his only viable source of being able to compete along with his shooting touch (almost non-existent now). The only other player I can think of at Brook's stature that doesn't use pure speed is Jameer Nelson. Too bad Brook's doesn't have the dedication or body type to put on that kind of bulk.
i would not trade him if we have to take much less than he should be worth. Just make him the #3 PG until he gets his act together. As for re-signing him, match any offer we get, unless it's outrageous. I do not want him traded straight-up for Jonny Flynn.
What exactly do you think he is worth? Do you really think making him the 3rd PG is going to make him get his act together?
I thought I would share this comment from the "4 on 5 basketball" thread which is essentially identical to this one: Rather than turn this into my sig, I think I'll contribute this thought ad nauseum to all the whiney thread clones.
Honestly, I'm at a bit of a loss to explain why Adelman keeps playing AB when he's been so ineffective. I agree with you that it must be because he's hoping that Aaron will break out of his... I was going to say a slump, but it's beyond that now, anyway, that Adelman, as you said, thinks he'll bust out of this morass of ineptitude, but it ain't happening. If Smith had been the 2nd point in the rotation the last several games, I honestly think that we'd still be in the hunt for a playoff spot, but Rick has me confused about that, and I'm a very big Adelman fan, as you know. Yeah, the Brooks/Smith thing has me wondering what the hell is going on, and why this nightmare of trotting AB out there won't end. Could Morey have asked Adelman to play him in hopes of upping his value for a trade? Would Morey even do that? Would Adelman play Brooks if he were asked to, even if he thought it was hurting the team? I wonder about that stuff from time to time.
He did for a couple of games but he hasn't been playing the same way like last year. Though, I'm not blaming Bud, it's because he's playing with Brooks. Brooks just isn't that good. You find players like Brooks all over the place and we'd find a replacement in the 2nd round in this year's draft. Undersized SG are abundant in the NCAA. Brooks sucks. I have no idea what you people see in him. If he were able to set up his team mates, run plays and defend then I wouldn't be complaining. Brooks is a short Tyreke.
I amazed how all the teams problems are being blamed on Brooks. Brooks has problems, but lets be realistic here.
Yes, he did. That's a good point, but Brooks has had a much larger role on this team and is justifiably considered a much better player. Bud is a role player playing limited minutes off the bench. AB is considered a starter quaility scorer and point guard. The impact of one having an extended period of lousy to terrible games is far greater with AB than it is with Budinger.
Because he is the 2nd biggest problem right now, besides not having a center. I guarantee you that if Brooks had not been playing, we'd be over .500. He's useless on the floor. The reason he is at fault is because he's the point guard. He isn't running the team. He's just out there jacking up shots. he doesn't set up his team mates, he doesn't get many assists, he's useless on defense, he doesn't hustle, he's just bad. Compared to Martin, when he's not shooting well, he still get his points by going to the line. When Brooks isn't shooting well, well, that's it. He doesn't contribute any other way. He's dragging the whole team down.
Did anyone notice that he is 26. He is losing his speed..He is getting slower. That is the real reason that he couldn't play like last year. He wouldn't come back...... If I was GM, I trade him asap
So you see no real difference in their role and importance on the team, and how Brooks' extended period of bad play has far more impact on the team than Mr. Budinger's. I find that hard to believe.
