The man plays for money, he has a poor attitude, he is a loser(gave away the last play for the toronto raptors to a seattle supersonic, how low is that), he quit on his team, plus he is an arrogant prick. Man am i bitter. Chris Bosh is the opposite of this guy. (Chris Bosh/Yao Ming/Dwight Howard/Wade)...these are the type of players i respect, they are respectful and you know they work hard to earn their money.
He doesn't annoy me anymore, because evaluations of his talent have come back down to earth. When he was Half-Man-Half-Amazing, he was very annoying. Now, I'm just indifferent.
I hope not. A few years back I had a job in which I regularly worked with NBA teams and often came into contact with players. Vince Carter was the only player who ever talked down to me and treated me as if I were beneath him. It was just one occasion, and we all have our bad days so Ill readily acknowledge that it's possible that this one incident isn't a fair representation of him as a person, but nonetheless, he was the only player I ever had a problem with. And since I'm sure I'll be asked why he was upset with me - I was so inconsiderate as to lightly brush shoulders with him in a very crowded lobby. I'm 5'10 and weigh around 150-160. Even if I straight up bumped into him, which I didn't, I'm pretty sure I'd have been the one to have gotten the worst of it. Guys who were particularly polite and classy? Kevin Garnett, Dikembe Mutumbo (no surprise there), Jason Kidd, Allen Iverson and, surprisingly, Derrick Coleman. I didn't get to work with the Rockets. Our only Western Conference clients were the Grizzlies and Timberwolves.
Wow, a Raps fan doesn't like VC? You're biased.. so whatever VC made a mistake. So did TMac. (and for the guy who said it wasn't the same thing, that's fine... I could argue that TMac quitting on his team was WORSE) Both of them have learned from their mistakes and grown up. Get over it. People deserve a 2nd chance..
I like VC a lot, he is one of the most entertaining players in the game and doesn't really seem to make the headlines that much anymore. Like other star players (Kobe, Melo, TMac, etc...), I'm sure VC did some things he regrets but he seems like he's learned from them and has grown up.
What kind of logic is that? Scottie Pippen quit on on us and screwed us too and guess what he's the most hated Rocket ever. Vince absolutely screwed the Raptors and did so in a more vile manner than T-Mac ever did. Not only did he suck it up on the floor but he proceeded to be a horrible locker room cancer that consistently whined to the media about everything. I have nothing against the guy and don't really care one way or the other and I definitely thought the criticisms in the original post were silly. VC deserves a second chance but I don't blame a Raps fan for holding it against him. Using that logic you should be forgiving Scottie Pippen.
I guess it's easy to "learn from your mistakes" and "grow up" after you force your way into a better position for yourself. Watch out for his next "mistake" once he ends up with a contract he doesn't like or a team he isn't happy with.
Vince wuz t-mac's boi <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WGbWl5cjlDw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WGbWl5cjlDw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
If the thread title was "Anyone else sick of the Vince Carter trade rumours" then I would agree but not with the current threat title. I'm sick of all the trade rumours about VC at the moment and Rod Thorn is probably the most stupidist GM's out there. He expects to get face value for his players when it clearly appears that he won't have a chance and at the end of the day, he is going to have egg on his face for not doing a deal and atleast getting something in return.
He is not in the headlines becuase he is not a super star. He is a good player but Vince could not lead an Indian to a sale. To the guy that said he needs to be in MIA. That is cool but he should be making a third of what he makes, not max.
A third of what he makes is 5 million a year which is less than MLE territory so no he deserves a hell of a lot more than that. VC plays for a BAD New Jersey team. Their best big man is Mikki freaking Moore who was and always will be a scrub big man. That team has no offense outside of VC. (Jefferson being perpetually injured) He absolutely took a down in the dumps New Jersey team and gave them a boost. My question is why the need to single out VC. There are several other players who have huge contracts who deserve far more criticism than VC. Lets list a few Shaq - 20 million Stephon Marbury - 17 million Grant Hill - 17 million Brian freaking Grant - 17 million Ben Wallace - 15 million Baron Davis - 15 million Larry Hughes - 13 million Mike Bibby - 12.5 million You could go on forever. I think Carter was a complete ass to the city of Toronto and I don't blame them for holding a grudge against the guy but I personally don't have any issue with him. He's a damn good player and if the market gives him max money then so be it because there are several other players with huge contracts that are even less deserving.
TMac didn't significantly alter his game other than laziness on d and not trusting his teammates. Tons of guys in the league who are guilty of that and can be redeemed, imo. Carter deliberately set out to lose games with the way he was playing to piss off management. This after he got his max contract after he demanded other players be resigned to higher than deserved contracts which ended up hamstringing the franchise. so no, not the same thing.
