Ariza 3% stats. 10/11 .303 11/12 .333 12/13 .364 13.14 .407 Natural progression of a 10% increase each of the last 3 years indicates something like .450 this season!
so what was the story with him and the Wizards? After such an impressive season why did they decide to settle for an old Pierce rather than Ariza for 8 mil a year? Did they just feel he wasn't worth it?

Ariza's not the best player by default on this team this time around either. He's a much better third option than he is a first option.
The young early 20s Trevor Ariza would have drove around past Bosh and dunked all over Justin Hamilton with ease instead of jacking up a three pointer with a man in his face like today.
I want to know this too. I feel like we had some bad luck with the Bosh thing obviously but the Ariza signing was a HUGE stroke of luck
I don't know the full story but they have otto Porter(No3 pick 2013) and G.Rice Jr. They needed to give a chance to them, they are inexperienced but they will improve.
He wanted 10m from them, and they thought Houston would up their offer to match (taxes and cost of living matter)
Ariza wanted more than two years, they are saving space for Durant 2016. Plus, Ariza also wanted to come to the West. Pierce is just a name to have next to Wall and Beal.
Let's be honest, he wasn't the best scorer on the 2010 Rockets either. That was AB's career year, and Landry and Scola were filling it up too. That said, we had a LOT less potent threats around him than we do this year. If by that you mean "tried to take two dribbles and coughed up a turnover", then yes. His decisionmaking has improved a lot, he doesn't try to drive so much anymore. He was always a pretty bad ballhandler.
I think the Wizards are lining up a run for KD so they didn't want to commit to Ariza long term. I think I heard Ariza would have liked to stay but also wanted to return to the West.
