When you're not blowing away the bad guys, just what exactly are you doing with your guns?

    So...
    to recap...

You tell me to come see you.
I say OK, where are you?
    You give me an address.
    I look it up online.
I email you back asking you if you live in a pawn shop (that's what the result googled).
You say that it where you work.
I hop in the car and come down to let you say whatever you want to say.
When I arrive the address is an unattended washateria.

I'm sure that you are probably going to get a kick by the fact that you made me get in my car and drive around, when you should be ashamed for being both a weasel and liar. That's fine. I conclude that you are either roughly 12 years old, or that is the arrested age of your emotional maturity.

If people want to laugh at me for getting worked up, that's fine too. I undoubtedly deserve it. I hope at the same time, however, that people will see what a pathetic excuse for a person vlaurelio is, hiding behind his keyboard. Hopefully you really are physically 12 years old and will one day grow into an understanding and embarrassment of what you are at the moment.

take it easy did I say it was a pawn shop? that's what is was before. now I have replaced it with a washateria and its attended. I doubt you even went in because if you did, you wouldn't say it was unattended. do you think any businessman leave an almost 4000 sqft washateria with 80 washers and dryers unattended in that area? and there's too much laundry and dryclean income to be lost if left unattended.

and who do you think you are with your sig? you think thats not juvenile? do you think your sig is not embarrassing? coz I am embarrassed that I played along even for a day that's why I'm gonna clear my sig because I realized it is juvenile. I'm a bigger and smarter man than that. go ahead and and keep on cowardly and falsely attacking me thru your sig for something I posted in someone else's thread weeks ago. I am just real curious its been weeks and the person who wrote the thread didn't seem to make a big deal out of it and your sig shows you have some sort of mental disorder and/or obsession with me.. email me again and I'll send you a picture of myself..

are you worried about the gas you spent for driving last I heard gas was down to $2.00. send me the receipt and I'll reimburse your gas.. what time did you go? after I emailed you back last night? because I remember there was a rockets game so you purposely missed the rockets game only to see me? maybe you are 12 years old and you badly want me to fondle you :D ..

I frankly think we'd all be safer if you had 0 bullets in your gun.

Seriously, anyone who carries a firearm should have to see a psychologist at least once a year and get certified as being able to only use a gun in self-defense. Reports of any unstable behavior should be a reason to prevent someone from having or owning a gun.

Did you just tell him you are packing a gun? Wow.

So if you get into a fight with vlaurelio you will shoot him? And people wonder why concealed weapons shouldn't be banned!

My advice for you, instead of shooting vlaurelio...as much as an idiot he might be...why don't you just put him on ignore? Worked for me.

You know what we should do.. You get a gang and Ottomaton get a gang and we meet at the washeteria, west side story style. I'll be one of the background guys leaning down and clicking my fingers and spinning in style ala west side story.

That or you two meet and go at it Alexander Hamilton-Aaron Burr style. I'll be the referee to ensure the duel was done fairly. You cheat and I'll blow your brains out.

He asked me to come visit him. The reasons were not clear. If it was his idea was that if he wanted me to come visit him in order to 'kick my ass', the fact that I have a concealed handgun license might dissuade him from that course of action.

I didn't threaten him with the gun. I pointed out its presence as deterrent. The gun, by law, can only be drawn if it is reasonable for me to believe that my life is immediately in danger, and I must be able to convince a jury of that fact. To do otherwise is a felony.

Man, you two guys are going beyond the pale. The best thing that could happen to this thread is to LOCK IT UP.

Both you guys need to get a grip. Real life violence is no joke. And don't pretend that it isn't what you're dancing around about. I don't know about everyone else, maybe they find it amusing, but I find it disappointing, and disgustingly juvenile. Of course, what do I know? I've experienced violence... it's best avoided, unless you have no alternative, and I'm stupid enough to read basso's posts, thinking that at some point he's going to regain his sanity. Surely, that alone makes me unqualified to give an opinion about anything.

Yeah... don't pay any attention to me. I don't know a damn thing.

probably no surprise at this point, but no doubt Deck.

this had to be one of the most pathetic examples of testosterone-fueled e-pissing contest I have ever seen....and Ive seen some epic crap in the old newsgroups.

but what the hell do I know?
Ive never thrown a punch in anger in my life, dont own a gun, dont want one and have absolutely zero interest in meeting anyon in here unless a beer and/or a Rockets game are involved

for the record....my e-penor may not be massive, but I guarantee you my e-tongue is more nimble than any damn one of yours.

    :p

Shut up old man... Violence is how we roll today. We're the MTV generation and we've become so engrossed with violence in society that we revel in every opportunity to embrace our masculinity and fight till we can't fight anymore.

Me and some others will be there to back them up.

    Man, this is screwed up.

How about you guys put down your guns and pick up some banjos? Now that's not only dueling, but it should serve your phallic needs as well! C'mon boys, make some music together.

Besides, wherever there's a banjo, there's pickin' and grinnin'.

I don't know man. I'm very anti-gun for a reason. And despite what I think about vlaurelio - and it's pretty low...I am a bit disturbed by the fact you'd bring up having a gun. Do you really think he was threatning you? And what's wrong with an honest fist fight - no one gets killed ya know.

I'd rather get beat up in a fist fight then shoot someone with a gun. But maybe I'm messed up in thinking that it's ok to take a few bruises versus killing someone.

    This is fascinating...

There are a lot of pages in this thread, so let me catch up on what has happened so far:

    1) Casey is a terrible shot who requires many guns with lots of ammo in case he is robbed by a crackhead in his house or whilst on a brisk morning walk

    2) Casey carries around 11 rounds in his handgun while leaving the safety off. This means one round in the chamber ready to go at a moment's notice. This somehow makes him feel safe while making me suddenly uncomfortable in public.

    3) Many loaded guns of different types are required for protecting the home.

This leads me to the following questions for you Casey:

have you ever been robbed? did you feel your life was threatened during the robbery(ies)

aren't you afraid you will come home and a crackhead will standing in your kitchen with four or five of your loaded guns?

I haven't owned a gun in a while personally. Someone broke into my parents house years ago and stole my pump 22 rifle from a locked gun cabinet. They also got a semi-autio .45, a Weatherby 30-06 and several other weapons. I'm glad my parents were not home at the time and that I wasn't visiting.

Anyways, good luck to you. I support your right to own guns. Hell, I'll even support your right to carry 16 rounds in your weapon. But please put on the safety and take the round out of the chamber.

    Regards,
    Brock

I had ejected from this thread but will return to answer your questions.

I am a very good "shot".

    I carry 16 rounds.

My gun does not have a safety than can be switched on and off (that is called a manual safety). It has 3 safeties which are there to prevent the gun from going off unless the trigger is pulled.

I never said many guns are needed around the house. Find one instance where I said that please.

I am not scared of crackheads standing around holding loaded guns because they aren;t accessable until I get home. I carry outside then I switch to the proper tool for inside.

Not having a round in the chamber means I have to use 2 hands and alot of time in order to "activate" my gun. Without a round in the chamber it is a short crappy club.

You know very little about guns and how they are used. I know alot.

You know very little about how guns work and what makes them safe and unsafe. This is the problem.

I'm not going to try to defend my opinions, positions or actions here, but this comment misrepresents what happens in 'friendly' fights. I had a friend in college who used to go play pickup basketball in rough neighborhoods. I don't know for sure, but I imagine he thought like you do - that the worst that could happen is that he would end up in a fight and get a few bruises.

One day he had a difference of opinion on the court and 'got into a little fist fight' and ended up with more than a few bruises. He ended up loosing all hearing in one ear, had vision problems with one eye and suffered some brain damage because his head was repeatedly kicked against a concrete block.

I do know a little about guns. I was kind of forced to learn when I worked in the pawn business. I actually know more about them than anyone really needs to know.

I would be curious to know about your three safeties. I'm assuming that there are two hand safeties and you keep the hammer half cocked?

When you get home to do you drag out your guns and spread them around the house or just carry a rifle around? And why would you use a rifle in a house? Wouldn't a shotgun be a better option?

If the difference between life and death is the time it takes to use two hands to bring a round into a chamber you are pretty much ****ed. Good luck!

In my experience it's rare that anything has to come to blows. But if someone starts pushing you - what are you going to do - pull out a gun? When do you pull out that gun? When do you elevate things? And what if someone else there has a gun? Then things get brought to a higher risk level.

Why not just get into arguments with strangers in the first place if you feel a fist fight is dangerous? I think people carry guns around more for their ego then for an actually need of protection. Personally, I don't venture into places where I might need a gun to protect myself - maybe I'm privledged that way...but I don't think so. The day it's wise for me to carry a gun, is the day I leave nyc.

Correct me if I'm wrong here. My understanding is that a "safety" locks the trigger so that it can't be pulled and is meant to prevent accidental discharge when the operator is holding the gun and might get jostled or twitch in some way that inadvertantly causes them to pull the trigger. Why you're describin to me doesn't sound like you have a safety at all but just some mechanisms that keep the gun from discharging when the trigger isn't pulled.
