I don't believe for a second that this team as it currently stands can make the playoffs BUT I think the way the team is built that one trade could make this team a 50 win club again. I do think a move will be made and I do think this team will squeak into the playoffs. I do know they will be fun to watch every night.
well have between 40 and 45 wins thats my best guesstimate well just miss the playoffs but we'll be fun to watch......
Personally, I'm ready to move on from the Yao/McGrady era. And by the way, the Yao/McGrady era was created by Carroll Dawson. So what I'm excited to see is Morey rebuild this team. I'm excited to see the new direction we go in with Morey and Adelman at the helm.
I want to sound neither Pollyanna nor defeatist. I honestly believe Morey is working on something that, for whatever reason, couldn't be consummated right off the bat, especially since he had so much roster upheaval (Yao out for the year) to start his offseason. After all, acquiring Artest happened out of left field a year ago. IF nothing significant happens, then I guess we just deal with it.
That's true.but we need lottery picks.Overachieving, hard work and good team work is very important but this half going forward, half rebuilding is not going to be enough.
yeah, we've won every championship on paper every summer. In fact, the differences between : a) TMAC and Yao as franchise players. b) Rockets without franchise players. are not that big. The high expectations were just delusions. This team never had a chance.
my thoughts exactly. the Rockets might be able to make a 7th or 8th seed at best, but at least its something new. itll be fun to watch a rockets team that hustles up and down the court. with tracy and yao, the team moves a little too slow. so either way, this should be an interesting season.
I'm actually pretty excited about next year. I think the combination of Adelman's motion offense, younger/faster players, and a continued committment to defense is going to make for a dangerous Rockets team.
as much as i love the rockets, i think we shuld jus play this season out or atleast till the 2nd half of the season and begin the rebuilding there with a good trade, get a good pick in the draft, and pick up an awsome free agent. rebuilding will be short for us. this season will just be a minor setback
lol I have to disagree with you on that one. I would say last year we were the paper championship team. But I really think that title went to the Knicks ( Isaiah Era ). This Year is looks like Orlando maybe the winners of the championship if we are looking at the team on paper.
I'm looking forward to our coach leading a team that's long on guts and heart, and short on talent. (Relatively speaking) I'm looking forward to the type of team basketball that just isn't seen enough in the modern era. I'm looking forward to less iso's, and more movement and unselfish play. We will be very entertaining to watch this year (I hope) and we will continue to be a tough out as we were in the playoffs this year.
Yeah Damn T-Mac for getting injured. Only if this was an injury free world. Boy we would be Champions year after Year. Damn Yao for putting on weight because he was so weak when he came in the league. Damn Maybe Yao should have stayed the way he was when he first came to Houston. Damn our best 2 players for breaking their neck into trying to help this team win it all. shame on them
The organization is testing your fandom. Do not waiver, do not fail, or you shall be left behind as they aren't pulling any bandwagons this year.
And I'm looking forward to dusting the sand off my legs, polishing off my Tequila Sunrise, and heading up to the American Airlines arena to watch the Rockets stomp DWade.
I am just glad we have a GM and owner who keep their eye on the big picture for this team and franchise. Yes, this offseason is not what we had hoped for due to the yao news, but hey, I think we will be ok next year and definitely for years to come after that. Some people may be upset that we have not made any big splash moves yet, but ask teams like Golden State, LA Clips, Phoenix, Detroit, Denver, about big splash moves. Tie up all their payroll and future in star NAMES and get nothing on the court for it. I believe we will have a competitive team next year, however it is built after this summer. We may have to see some team favorites move on, but our GM has a plan. Most on here will say we are getting a bad deal or whatever, but none of us are in the meetings and know about the 'next' move or future plan. So show some patience and let the summer run it's course. There is still talent to be had at a value out there.
I'm looking forward to see how Adelman coaches this group of players. With Ariza, I think he's going to get very creative in the way we attack. I'm almost dreading the day we do end up trading T-Mac though, since my biggest fear is that we get little to no value for him. I would much rather hang on to him and free up that $23MM for next summer if that ends up being the case. The Rockets are in a unique situation in that they KNOW they are going to be back in contention in the 2010 season, regardless of what happens this upcoming season. Either Yao is back fully healthy, and we have a full arsenal of players around him, or we sign him to less than the max, which would free up even more cap space for an elite FA. The silver lining in all of this is that even if the Rockets do end up being no good, at least they've done it in a year where the draft is supposed to be INCREDIBLY strong. We're guaranteed to get an immediate impact player from the draft, if we do end up dropping into the lottery.
Actually I'm excited! It's great to watch young guys develope and Landry, Lowry, Brooks, Ariza and possibly Budinger or Taylor give me plenty to get excited about. On top of that the way our team played with out Yao and TMac in the play-offs gives me hope that we will still be a force to be reconed with once the play-offs start. I also think Ariza vs. Artest is a wash. On those nights when the offense is having trouble scoring and Artest would come in and light it up were great but those nights when he came in and shot 1 for 12 were just ugly. In the play-offs his offense was off more than it was on. I think Ariza will only improve and I'm looking forward to seeing it. Scola? Love the guy and cant wait to see how he does this year. Anderson? Curious and excited to see if the new guy is all that. Personally I think Morey has been pretty smart this off season. Not over paying for guys and still getting some impact in free agency. Now if he will just re-sign Wafer!
I wants to see the young guys grow and i will like to see Scola be the leader of a team. He is a true leader.
watching the brooks and scola pick and roll over as many time untill the game ends. i do wanna also see how our paint defense adjust to YAO being out alought our rotational desfense should be drasticly better. sry for the spelling GET WELL YAO WE WILL BE WAITING COME PLAYOFF TIME
I am looking forward to finally seeing the Adelman offense in play. Let me add, win or lose I'll always watch the Rockets.
