It is harder to compete, simply because America as a whole is becoming more educated. But there are still plenty of opportunities out there. I dropped out of Highschool at 16. Messed around for 3 yrs. Was lucky enough to be able to get into U of H with just a GED and a ACT score. Messed around again for probably another 3 yrs until I finally decided to get serious about school. Now I'm in med school with pretty good grades, and truthfully; I'm really grateful I'm in America right now. I mean where else can you be a screw up for most of your life and still get a second chance?

Lets seee. My Great-Grandfather was head of Melroe Industries (Manufactured the first Bobcat skid-steer loaders) My Grandfather was VP of that company and CEO of Steiger Tractor (A 4WD Tractor company that was competing stride for stride with John Deere until the ag market crashed) and now my uncles are CEO and VP of a fast growing technologies company that is the #1 supplier of sugar beat harvesters in Russia.

I'll be 23 in june and I'm not even half way to my Bachelor's degree yet.

Well, you can't sit on your ass playing video games all day and expect to make $$$... :p

Like FFB said, once you get your foot in the door, no matter what you do, bust your ass and you'll succeed...It may or may not be immediate, but you'll see the benefits...I was the first in my family to go to college and having the piece of paper makes a huge difference...

My brother-in-law, 9 years my junior and about to graduate from a much worse college than I attended, just got a job offer for 80% of my current salary. I can't say he's got it too hard.

I work in Aviation Security Consulting. Basically I go to different airports and airlines and consult them on their security fallacies, weaknesses, and improvements they can make. I train and handle seletion and staffing as well. I got a couple of extracurricular certifications from IATA and ICAO which costs me but they are paying off.

I work mainly out of Colombia and Ecuador but I travel to other countries as well. Basically I got lucky and went into the business with older professionals who had the expertise and resume's but lacked the energy and ambition. So far business is doing really well and its a fun job. I can definitely see a very profitable future in the growth of this.

yeah..thats because going to a great college doesn't mean as much anymore. Business's don't really care if you went to Rice or Tarleton State...just as long as you have the degree they're looking. The better interviewee will always get the job.
