I think they're quickly putting together the seeds of a surrounding cast that's as good if not better than the one LeBron has in Cleveland.

    Nets under contract for 2010:
    Devin Harris, Keyon Dooling
Courtney Lee (team option - likely), Terrance Williams
    Ed Najera
Yi (team option - possible), Sean Williams (unlikely)
Brook Lopez (team option - likely), Josh Boone (RFA - possible)

...and will add at least one more lottery player next year, which already projects to have a lot more size than this past draft class. The Nets should be in position to tender offers to both LBJ and Bosh - which would give them a balanced, athletic, skilled, quick team that would really be dangerous.

The name would NOT be "Brooklyn Nets."

The team would be renamed to the "Brooklyn Knights." Its a play on the word "Brooklynite."

They have some good potential going for them. But, I'm not worried because management is not one of them.

    their management's not bad

-Rebuilt the "starbury" nets teams and made two finals appearances.
-Gave nothing of value to Toronto for Vince Carter.
-Suckered Mavericks into trading Harris for Kidd.
    -Drafted Brook Lopez
-Now, traded Vince with an eye toward the future and 2010.

Most, if not all, of the trades they have made has favored them.

Come on man, you should know nobody wants to rep New Jersey. But they'll rep Brooklyn all day, any given day. They're gonna need to renovate their bandwagon after they build their new stadium.

interesting. I hadn't heard that. I do know the Brooklyn Knights exist as a minor league soccer team in NY, and I was going off wiki info, but I found this interesting teaser website:

    www.brooklynknights.com

notice the silhouette of the existing Nets logo, with a chess piece in the shape of a Knight.

tell us what you know tigereye! is this speculation or something definite?

there is a movement among Brooklynites for the name change, but is it a reality?

It's not up to Stern, stern doesn't have a billion dollars in his pocket with which to build the arena, if it ever gets built - it's also going to be a concrete box now, they ditched the Frank Gehry designed one because they couldn't afford it.

It is REALITY, The New York Nets were Long Island's team. The current Nets are Jersey's team and have been 3 decades. This will be Brooklyn's team and the Nets identity will not allow for this fact to be cemented. Expect a new identity package. And based on all indications, expect the use of Dodger Blue.

BTW, its no secret the Isles are in trouble over in Uniondale when it comes to the aging Coliseum. Not gonna say too much here, but keep that in mind as Barclays Center moves forward.

And FWIW.....I hate what new project architect Ellerbe Beckett has done with the design of the place. It looks like FedEx Forum in Memphis.
