Don't do it! If you are going to bench heavy..do it the right way. Don't bench with a wide grip and use your lats to push

What other routines did you do to help your bench? Like specifically what dumbbell routine or cable machine?

There is no purpose at all in maxing out. Bodybuilders don't do it. Hell at the NFL combine, they just press out 225 as many times as they can for an accurate strength measure.

I did a lot of jobe exercises. Did a lot of reps with very little weight for some of them, like 5 lbs, can up it to 10 after a few months.

If you're not smart enough to do your own research I just don't know what to say. Everyone will have their own opinions when it come to working out and it will not fit into your routine.

At that low of a weight. I would bench as much as you can comfortable six times. Keep trying to improve to 10 times and when you are there, move up to a weight that you can bench six times. The most important thing is to have a good spotter that can give you 5 pounds of help when you are trying to get in those last two reps.

I went from working out with 125 pounds to 275 in about 3-4 months but that was when my body was starting to fill out so I had the size for it. If you weigh 125 pounds, getting to 275 will be difficult without some serious eating.

You think? My pectoral muscle tore off my shoulder. I don't know if I did something wrong, but something went really wrong...opted not to get surgery and will probably never touch bench press again. If I was the OP, I would stick to doing the 6 reps till he could get 10 up as suggested. I would throw in seeing what wieght I could get up 20 times once a month with a spotter. And there is no way you should bench every day. The only way to get stronger is to let you muscles rest. I would think twice a week is the most you should go at it.

I have the size for it, I'm about 185 pounds so I believe I will have enough room to put that in.

Any other workout routines you would suggest? Specifically with dumbbells or cables?

Is the most important body part to work on to improve your bench is your chest?

You're asking a board full of members who predominantly argue about who has the best fast food burger for workout advice. What did you expect?
