84 in Philly, 60s in the evenings. Getting rain this weekend though, kind of a bummer for father's day. Where are you in WNY? Got a couple of good friends who go to Bonas and UB, I've visited the area a few times
Probably but we aren't far behind. Dew points were in the upper 70s and that was at 8 this morning. I think the heat index got up to 115 today.
this may be the summer that finally breaks me. may be time to seriously start looking to move out west.
Hush that nonsense. It'll last another 3 months, we'll get a hurricane, then it will be 1000 degrees...and then fall will last for 6 months. It just happens like that.
why do people still whine about Houston summers? it's only been like this since our lovely town was discovered and settled. I-45N, I-10W and 59N will lead you directly out of this town. Don't let the proverbial door hit ya. go spend a few years in a metric ass load of snow and stay indoors for 9 months out of the year, then come back here and cry about Texas being "unbearable". Houston summers are a gift from the heavens, it's full of win. This is the best time of the year. own it.
I don't even live in America and never have so I can only imagine how hot it is in Houston. When it's anything over 80, I'm useless - I move, I sweat. I was in Spain once and it was 90-something there. Horrible. Weather-(and a lot of other things)-wise, there is no place I'd like to live more in than Ireland. Rarely is it hotter than 75 or colder than 30. And it rains often. Awesome.
I really wanted to check these around 10pm, but the UFC got in the way and I forgot about it. At roughly 3:00am : Houston : 79/82 Dallas : 82/85 New Orleans: 79/82 Miami : 81/96 (that seems like a bizarre heat index; accuweather has 80/89) Orlando : 84/96 (that seems like a bizarre heat index, but accuweather has 84/95 and NOAA has 84/95) Birmingham : 77/77 Phoenix : 84/84 Gainesville, FL : 80/86 McAllen, Tx : 82/89 Eagle Pass, Tx : 81/85 It seems like if you want a real hell-hole, you need to go to Orlando if those numbers are right.
Agreed. Got a nice tan from washing the car, running the jet ski and sitting by the pool this past month. The intense heat just came so early this year. Love the heat, hate the electric bill. A lil' bit of rain wouldn't hurt though. A nice tropical storm would be deece.
Buy a house in Vancouver Canada or Seattle etc. The summers here are amazing. 20 degree Celsius weather, clear skies, light and comfy breeze.
I love Houston and don't want to ever go anywhere else. But this is ridiculous. I hadn't even seen this thread - just pulled up the AccuWeather app on my phone and I was disgusted. My well fed front lawn is starting to die from the extreme heat -- I'm gonna have to go on an extensive watering regimen for the next couple of weeks now.
Was doing yardwork yesterday and noticed some dark clouds to the south that looked "legit". So I logged onto abc13.com and checked the Montgomery Co. radar and noticed a very small cell (maybe just 2-3 miles wide) right near Tomball College, which is about 2 miles south of us. My wife and I sat out on the deck and willed that thing towards us. For about 10 mins, we were just getting some light intermittent sprinkles, but then, the heavens opened up, and we got a legit downpour for about 10-15 mins before the small cell moved on. Pretty exciting, for my lawn at least.
look before you leap...pretty much everywhere, it's gonna be hot. seriously, i was looking online the other night comparing temps in different places....it was as hot...as humid...and same heat index virtually everywhere i was looking. definitely like that through texas and the southeast right now. but this summer is unique, even for houston. we're like 7 degrees hotter right now than we are normally in June. and we ALWAYS get rain in June to break the heat some....not this year, apparently.
I'm not feeling too bad about it being 90 today and 95 tomorrow here on the upper reaches of the Mississippi.
I would hang onto it. You know what they say about Minnesota weather, if you don't like it just wait 5 minutes.
