He actually dunked on Kobe somewhat. I know there wasn't no body contact but that was still a sick left hand jam.

I predicted TMac would score more. He is going to have the lane more open, plus he wont have to beat his man from the half court, as he will have plays set up for him.

He is going to get many more easy shots.

I honestly think we would play best if we had TMac at point and leave James and Battier on the wings or baseline. Iso TMac and he can dish when the D collapses on him. He looked real good the last 3 quarters last night...took a little to get started, but he made up for it.

i only wish he would pass out faster on those traps, it was hard watching the last two minutes when he would try to dribble through it.

I don't think T-mac with the ballin his hands at the one is very effective. He is a great distributor, but when he has the ball in his hands way behind the three point line, it takes too long to set up the offense because they flash those double teams off the screens and push him back.

I like Mac getting the ball in mid-range to right at the three line area. He still will can distribute from there but is much more deadly a scorer. I guarantee you they are not going to do the same thing to Rafer at the top of the key. Let Rafer set up the offense and T-mac run it.

Damn we all just HAVE to be excited about Tracy. Man, looks like, he is healthly. He's a lot quicker, he got that first quick step and look, he's dunkin' the ball, he takes it to the rack with no issues with his back.

He's quick right now. But the most important thing is his jumpshoot. Even if he couldn't make it at the beginin' he started makin' shoots later. I mean he found his shootin' rythm, he's feelin' it and he's a scorer.

I'm just so excited about his game. That's what I wanna see from T-Mac and from Yao too. 55 pts and 18 rebs...that's good.

This is nothing new. Each time the defense double-teams the pick-n-roll in which McGrady handles the ball, McGrady careens back or sideways to a point where there is no unobstructed passing angle. I imagine this is in the scouting reports; it's been his tendency so long. Too often his dribbles in these situations are rhythm dribbles instead of attack dribbles; other times he just needs to dish it off earlier to a perimeter player who does have an unobstructed passing angle or a space to the basket.

Immediately giving the ball to the screener (in this case, Yao) has in the past not been wholly beneficial. Yao would receive the ball just inside the three-point line with, indeed, an open lane to the basket. However, there's still plenty of time for defenders to recover and slide right in front of him. Yao is a wonderful player, but attacking the rim off of two or three dribbles is not his strong point (nor is passing off the dribble). In Adelman's offense, there does appear to be a value in Yao shooting the open 17-footer, though, so by your suggestion Yao would receive pelnty of those in these situations.

But there is no doubt: these are very aggressive double-teams. However, I'd hope for a player who has perhaps the least difficulty in the entire league of getting off a jump-shot in one-on-one coverage to be able to create an angle to find a wide-open big man of Yao's size. The McGrady-Yao pick-n-roll really should be more efficient than it is, or has been.

I'm surprised no one has noted how good Yao looks in terms of physical shape.

The dunks were great but what I liked seeing were the plays T-Mac made moving without the ball. He had a couple of shots he made by coming around and receiving the ball at mid-range for a good wide-open look. Stuff like that makes the game so much easier compared to the old "Go inside and get mutilated or jack up a low-percentage 3".

TMac looked great and healthy. Yao Ming looked fantastic, even down he played considerably heavy minutes.

And ya, that dunk on the break was total vintage TMac. I bet that took Kobe by surprise as well.

I hope his aggressive play (taking it to the basket) last night is something we will see more of throughout the season
and not just the occasional vintage TMac that was brought on by the intense play of Kobe.
Sort of like playing to the level of your competition.

You should make a thread about it! This is T-mac's thread.

Don't get me wrong. Yao is sexy.

It's a thread about McGrady so it would be a mistake to talk about Yao here. But yes, Yao looks also good.

As for Tracy, damn I just love when he comes off the screns, catch and shoot the ball. That's a great play and he's simply makin' every attempt.

Anyone got a clip of that? I thought he jumped from near the free throw line. Well a couple of steps inside...

he moved well the WHOLE game, but he just missed the first few easy shots, if not for that it wouldve been a 40 point game. and he got his free throws to go down
