Its possible that a mini zombie outbreak has occurred on bolivar and the government is trying to keep it under wraps.
Rick Perry looked dumbfounded, he is either a dumb governor or he is legitimately hiding something. That list of names is huge, we want to know the truth. I also find it odd that the Chronicle had an article today calling all of this talk ludicrous.
don't believe mass media. that is the lesson for today. i just ran across a video of a mass arrest in St. Paul of innocent people hanging around in a park. I had never heard about it until today, I wonder why?? They give you half of the information, and that is usually skewed or incorrect.
I don't believe the media blackout conspiracy theory. However, I am concerned about the missing persons list and I don't feel like it is getting the public attention it deserves.
Whilst there may be a conspiracy or NO, you DON'T want to show the public how BAD it looks in the Bolívar Peninsula. It's just sad. Why subject every TV viewer to that...? I mean, I know I wouldn't want to see all that...
Since when does the media care about not showing disturbing or graphic images? They love that stuff, they eat it up because we eat it up. Anyway, I still say its a zombie outbreak, and I'm not kidding either.
there is something seriously wrong on that strip of land and its not the obvious(flooding, messed up stuff) they don't want us to see it.
exactly... it has to be the government that is controlling the news due to Ike... i agree with swoly-d...no viewers should see bodies laying on the beach or whatever but at least, acknowledge the missing people, geez.
If you're talking about the arrests during the RNC that was hardly a cover up as those were widely reported by local media. In fact I saw some of those first hand and can tell you as far as I can tell those were reported. That these generally weren't violent and other than during the last days were in the tens and not hundreds is probably why that wasn't heavily reported in the national media. Anyway before everyone starts getting up in arms about a government / media coverup consider that during a disaster like this there is a lot of confusion especially with people evacuating to many different places. Its going to be natural that there is going to be a large sorting out process before any sort of remotely accurate count of victims can be determined. If the media and government started throwing out figures that hundreds are dead only to find out later that many people had relocated and hadn't told their families right away consider the outcry about how the government and media needlessly scared families by making them think their loved ones were dead.
We have to see it because some of the public wants to know the truth! There should be a media outlet available to those who do want to see what's going on. My heart goes out to all of the people who lost their home and family members, but Ike is now a part of our history and we deserve to know the truth. However sad it is. I hope in the near future details that have been withheld from us will come to light, but I doubt it.
The Evacuation Zones were mapped and labeled, but it appears that there wasn't a Census System in place to track the people who lived in those areas. Of course, those visiting friends for a few days wouldn't be on the list. It appears to be a jumble of names at the moment with no rhyme or structure apparent.
Someone in the media needs to take their helicopters down to Bolivar now...and get some footage.... It says here 250 people do not want to leave Word will get out. People have a right to know. DD
Certainly, they shouldn't be counting missing as dead at this point. But, they could publish the number of missing alongside the dead (with caveats about how they might be just fine). Also, I haven't seen a good government effort to resolve the missing persons cases. I was looking around for a website for people who were looking and people who were lost to find each other. There was a couple, but they were run by private entities, and they sucked. Maybe there is a good government site, but I haven't found it. We need to get people reunited soon, so we can start getting an idea of who is simply lost and who is dead.
