I got to play for about half an hour last night and, though I didn't look too hard, there doesn't appear to be a "story mode" as with Melee and Brawl. Again, I didn't have time to look, but I was hoping there would be something in that vein. Is there anyone who can correct me? Other than that, Nintendo really improved this game from Brawl. It's what I expected and more. Looks amazing, plays smoothly, so many characters to choose from.
There is. It's classic mode but it's been revamped. I was half asleep so Im not sure how it works but your character is on a board and you pick your battles ultimately ending with the Master and Crazy Hands. The mode should be where you find the HR battle and smash melee modes. I agree this is a huge improvement over Brawl which I didn't like so much. Do you guys have any preference as to which controllers to use?
Regarding controllers: Does the Wii U have controller ports for Gamecube controllers like the Wii did? Or are you forced into buying the adapter that comes with Super Smash Bros Wii U?
You have to get the adapter for it which they just released. It comes in the bundle if you can find one.
Any advice on when and where to buy the Wii U? I know there are a lot of bundles and exclusive retailers, so I'm a little confused.
I got the Smash Bros. Wii U bundle and a few amiibos from Best Buy. Apparently they messed up because I paid for 10 amiibos but realized that I only had 9 when I got home. Oh well, my fault for not checking when I picked up my pre order. Anyways we had some epic 4 player battles. It is so fast paced and hectic that I would often lose track of myself on screen. And it all runs at glorious 60fps with not the slightest hint of slowdown. When the smash ball drops, everyone makes a run for it and keeps fumbling it. Kind of like football players who lunge at a live ball but it keeps bouncing around until someone finally gets their hands on it. Mega Mans final smash is so epic we just stood there in awe the first time we saw it in glorious HD. After about 2 hours of Smash, I decided to call it a night but the rest of my family played well past midnight. lol
And i will admit, and it's no lie that Nintendo is trailing in the so called "console" wars and I am baffled. A quick glance at game threads for the other systems shows nothing but speculation and questions as to when a patch will be released to fix a rushed, buggy game. I will not say anymore names as it appears my thread is going well. Maybe because fans of those other systems agree with what I have said in praising Nintendo in this thread.
Ebay Cyber Monday has Wii U. I think the picture is wrong. Should be 8GB version with Skylanders + Supers Smash Bros for $250. http://bfads.net/Cyber-Monday/eBay/Ad Thanksgiving has PS4 for $330: http://bfads.net/Thanksgiving/eBay/Ad?page=1#viewer
I've been doing some reading on Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U. A lot of people laud it as not only console-defining in it's greatness but generation or genre defining. Not only is it a Wii U exclusive, it comes with the first game, free. I told my wife that it's what I wanted for XMas. Check out the Amazon reviews.
Bayonetta was one of the best third-person beat-em-ups I've played. It had wonderful gameplay, beautiful graphics, and great artistic direction. It'll be one of the first games I get when I end up buying a Wii U, and I'll probably end up playing the first one again.
I was looking through the library thus far for the Wii to see what other options I would have outside of the classic mario, smash bros, etc. In particular I was looking for a couple decent action and slightly more adult type games and noticed the great reviews for bayonetta...looks interesting. I'd be pretty excited if they made a No More Heroes for the Wii U. I never played the second one but the first was pretty great.
ao is smash bros as good as the reviews/hype its getting? think i'm gonna go out and get a few games...smash bros being one if the reviews are to be believed
Pretty good deal http://www.bestbuy.com/site/wii-u-with-mario-3d-world-super-smash-tropical-freeze-nintendo-land/9999237800050006.p?ref=199&loc=oelFIBIMgTk&acampID=1&siteID=oelFIBIMgTk-kbRHQrZf71M2_fN47iGzJA
I kind of wished I waited for this deal, but it doesn't come with the adapter and controller for Smash. With the GCU discount this is actually $337 so I was tempted to actually get this anyway if I already didn't have a Wii U on the way
Not sure if the price includes the extra $40 off when you type in WIIUDEAL. It was mentioned on the ign website.
Seems to be a shortage online but I would bet you can find it in a brick and mortar store. Compatible with smash bros ONLY.
