Any way we can get the Grizzlies to toss in Hakim Warrick?

    Guys,

Sorry but you guys are dreaming. This team already screwed big time and it is not reversible. That deal is done and once July 12th comes around it will be official. The deal is done. Nothing will change from what is already known.

we don't know the detail. all we know is #8 + swift for battier, which is strange.

I think we are getting Alexander Johnson. We liked him when he worked out for us. And Memphis didn't draft him but went after him after he was drafted. They were hoping he would go undrafted and then the Rockets could just invite him to camp. But when he was taken Memphis had to go scrambling to get him to send to Houston.

Sniff, Sniff. Now, here's another interesting aspect. Bobby Jackson has made it clear that he wants out of Memphis. He is not going to re-sign with them. We could actually make this trade work with our TE depending on how much dollars Bobby Jackson wants. Memphis could re-sign him and include him in the trade to us. From their end they've got half of Battier's salary going out along with whatever they re-sign Bobby Jackson for. And they've got Swift's salary coming in. They could easily make that deal legal.

The other thing that would make sense to me is if they re-signed BJax and then sent him to Toronto. He'd be a good veteran fit up there. And then Toronto could re-sign Mike James and send him to us. There may have to be another minor player or two involved to make the numbers work between us and Toronto. But it would be seem to be a good way to get our man. Then the deal actually turns into Gay, Stro, the TE, and maybe somebody like Bowen for Battier, ALexander Johnson, and Mike James. Bet there would be a lot of you guys change your minds if that scenario went down, huh?

what if the rox sign gay to his rookie contract. then stro and gay for warrick and battier. this would seem a lot more fair.

The worst case situation would be if no one of note was willing to sign for our MLE. I do think James will possibly be back but maybe he won't.
If Warrick was coming we would have known it yesterday I think.

I agree that a Memphis free agent is in our sights and that is why we can't talk about FA's unitl July 1st. After July 1st if we are interested in Memphis's FA's then maybe management will talk about their plans. Let's hope the Rox have a quick start to Free agency like last year or we will all be confused as all hell for two more weeks.

What is that brand of denial are you smoking? We have been taken to the cleaners and the Suns-east (formerly known as the Raptors) have as much use for Bobby Jackson as they do David Wesley.

I don't know how many ways I can say this...Jerry West already knows the Rockets (ie, Van Gundy) will not play Rudy Gay. We have already turned our cards face up and laid them on the table. The card game is over and West is raking in his chips. Why is this so hard for some of you to understand?

We've got a $4.2 million TE. Stoudamire makes about $4 million and BJax is probably going to sign for somewhere between $2.5 and $4 million would be my guess. We were after Stoudamire last year and just couldn't get him. Don't you think that Memphis could possibly be a target for our TE???

Ok, I'm cool with the idea that Toronto doesn't want BJax.....or Stoudamire. I was probably hoping a little too much. But don't you see the ability for the Rox to use one of the TEs in this deal to get it done after July 1st? Wouldn't it make sense? And how else are we going to be able to use them? Some team is just going to give away a $4 million player at the deadline? I suppose Memphis could wait to January when they are stinking it up and then slide Damon to us, or we could work out a deal now.

Bottom line: I think we are getting Alexander Johnson back and I think the possibility exists to use the TE to complete this deal and give us an added piece.

Wait...let me see if I got this correctly. The 49 win Grizzlies have swapped Shane Battier for Rudy Gay and they are going to be stinking it up by January? IMHO, you are digging yourself in deeper.

Look, let me give you my "bottomline"....Shane Battier is a good player and I like him on the court. But the Top 4 WC teams right now are the Mavs, Spurs, Suns and Clippers. IMHO, with Battier...or with Gay...we are in the first round against one of them. And the difference in talent between us and them is more than a $4.2M player. Seriously!!!

Basing on talent and depth of our WC opponents, we are just as likely to go out in the first round regardless of whether we have Battier or Gay/Swift. Unless you are drop dead certain that Rudy Gay is a bust (and I'm not...10-5 worst case), the difference between Gay and Battier diminishes in Yr 2 and you've got Swift instead of having to replace Mutombo.

I'll extend you a personal apology in this thread if we get more from MEM than what's already on the table. But the die has already been cast.

That analogy is a little off. It should be the guy is Jerry West and that idiot girl is the Rocket fans. Rocket fans are the ones who really got screwed. CD is just the stupid cheap pimp.

In a draft where everyone expected havoc- I just cannot understand how The Rockets were playing "blind" and handed West a list of players that were on their wish list- How dumb is that, literlly showing the cards to your opponent?

Interestingly- just before the draft Katz was reporting that they were doing - additional work on Rudy Gay!!!!!!!

We got taken to the cleaners on this deal- oh well, what is new with being a rocket die hard fan!

Battier, Frahm and Luther - not a bad 3 point shooting trio? ( and Tracy of Course)
