It probably is a chronic issue for Dwight. However, it is manageable. I had something similar a couple of years ago. The meniscus in my left knee was badly damaged from a bone spur and arthritis from 30+ years of soccer. It swelled up on me like a balloon. After I had the surgery to fix the meniscus, the pain came back a few months later. Through a cortisone shot and ibuprofen regimen, I almost never feel it anymore. I didn't have access to the care that Dwight has. I feel very confident we'll see a refreshed and explosive player for the rest of the season. He wasn't healthy and was probably playing in a lot of pain up until he was shut down. I'm betting he will be what the Rockets pay for the rest of the way.

Sure sounds like the Rockets and D12 have handled this extremely well. The proof will be in the upcoming playoffs.

Read my earlier post regarding Dwight's return timetable...

Injuries may have sped up the Front Office plan of Wolves. We were expected to win against Suns, Pacers & Nuggets.

But we could have a very big surprise coming up to help keep Pace with our goal of home court in the playoffs & there's a Nugget of truth to the rumours that a large pair of warm ups & only 1 suit has been packed for the road trip...

If I recall correctly, he banged his knee with someone else during a game (against Phoenix, I think?) and the swelling started to occur.

I guess he'll be wearing that 1 suit tonight.

Officially listed as "out" for the pacers game.

It's not just the Suns loss that's the problem. T-Jones went down with his lung injury and Smith is playing on a gimpy ankle. We need help in the frontcourt NOW!

Front office has their timetable. I've 'heard' it was definitely the Wolves game, but Dwight wanted back to play in front of Championship squads & to help James.

The only thing that would change that timetable would be a losing streak...or injuries. The way that we're playing so far against Pacers Dwight might have to buy a suit in Indiana for Denver Edit : (oops- I meant NOLA).

But expect him back most def against Wolves.

Short on bodies, McHale says they might have to throw him out there.

How close is Howard to coming back?

I don't know. We were just talking. We're so down on bodies. We don't have a lot of practice time. We may have to throw him out there and let him get some minutes in the game. Whether he starts at 15-20 minutes and just game time but he has to start playing soon otherwise the season will go by and you can't wait til the playoffs to come back.

Either he can hold up or he can't if he is pain free better to find out now.

McHale sure made it sound like he might be out there on Wednesday. He needs come back soon regardless. Otherwise he'll never get into game shape in time for the playoffs.

He needs to be healthy first, regardless how bad we need him. My concern is his knee has more damaged than said.
