When I saw Parsons go for that dunk and then slowly fall on the floor, I remembered how slow he was on previous plays that forced him to ground down & get up. He was pathetically slow in 1 and even Bull was saying he needs to go faster. I'm sure the back spasms were causing him pain the entire game and he was trying to not focus on it. The momentum of that last dunk sucked the wind out of the gym and his back. He should take Monday & Wednesday off, so 5 days off.
You don't understand how spasms work. They are sudden and painful. They do not last for hours constantly. He had his flare-up right after the dunk, and they probably subsided a minute or two later. They will remain tight and sore for a couple days, and may be close to another onset of spasms.
Back spasms usually indicate a serious chronic injury like a herniated disc or a stress fracture. I think McHale has been riding Parsons too hard since last season, and the wear is starting to show. Play him less minutes, and let others run the offense.
Chandler parsons didnt do shoot around today. Mchale said "we'll see" when asked if he will play tonight. He is still dealing with back spasms - Jenny (chronicle) 12/2/13 Garcia did shoot around and should be available tonight. We will know more pregame -Jenny (chronicle) 12/2/13
I hope Parsons back spasms isn't going to be in occurrence frequently. You guys do remember how we dealt with T-Mac's back spasms, right?
Parsons doesn't have a History of back spasms does he? This is eerily familiar sounding T-Mac's back. Any word if this is just an isolated situation?
I wouldn't worry about it. Any serious injury will come after he resigns to a quite large contract...
He'll be fine if we rest him well, same goes with Harden, and Lin. But the real issue here is the minutes Mchale is putting on this team. We're deep for a reason, no need to ride your starters for 40+ minutes a game especially if you know they're injured.
Not sure if it's been posted yet, but he's out tonight according to Jonathan Feigen on Twitter: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>With Parsons, Lin out, the Rockets can get 3-happy if Harden not getting to rim. Against Utah, that's not always been a bad thing for them.</p>— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Feigen/statuses/407670234640683008">December 3, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
