do you have ANY Idea how much hard work it is to stay on the BENCH in the NBA much less make it to the floor in the NBA Lazy? Rocket RIver
I will always support Swift. I believe, even "special" people should have a chance to play in the NBA and make millions. F**k the special Olympics. No one watches that.
I didn't say that you personally blame JVG. Many others have and my post was not directed at you specifically. And this thread is about Stro, not our W/L record. You can say all you want about JVG, but like I said, he's only had Stro for 1/2 a season. None of Stro's coaches in 5 previous years have gotten him to perform. This is a good indication that the problem is not JVG, it is Stro. If you don't think I have a "thimble of basketball sense" fine. And I actually don't like JVG. I just think it's ridiculous the way people pile on him. If you interpret this to mean I like him, so be it. When it comes to 1/2 court offense, I've piled on him like everyone else. When it comes to "up-tight demeanor", "snide cynicisim", "public criticism", and "ridiculous frowning", have you read Pop's or LB's (Detroit) comments very often? And they say (or said) those things when their teams were WINNING most of their games. Even PJ sometimes acts like he's sucking sour lemons after the Lakers win. This whole demeanor thing with JVG on Clutchfans is out of control IMO. Just another one of those issues where I take the minority viewpoint here. I think some people are on Fantasy Island about how NBA coaches operate. The only immense talent Stro has is vertical leaping ability. He's athletic, not talented. If he combined consistent passion with his athleticism Stro would be a very good NBA player. As it is, he's a dud who flashes in the pan every now and then.
that swifts a real gym rat. first to practice and last to leave. im sure he works much harder at his job than any of us do. i think you two are just upset with my word choice, but i dont think im wrong. i think i have some idea how much athletik-cism it takes to make the nba, not sure about the hard work part. didnt get to see the game tonight but it looks like he had a hayes-like game. awesome.
Now with Yao back in the system - I think that Stro can put up more points than any of our other forwards.
I am a Rockets fan, that is the only reason I even pull for him to make a shot. I didnt want him when we signed him. But of course during that time anyone who wanted SAR, or Walker got flamed for even thinking of signing one of those guys. It is simple Swift is a loser! (read my sig.)
Swift got 4 steals, more than any other players on court, in Sonics' game. And he got more rbs than Hayes.
Shhhhhhh! He's only supposed to play good when he gets a lot of minutes and starts. That tyrant JVG had the nerve to bring him off the bench and only play him 19 minutes. It was a complete fluke. He needs to start in order to play well.
lol. swift is an idiot. having mcgrady guard dirk was the best thing the rockets could have done other than getting a young robert horry in his prime. swift is a complete jackass. wow, can't believe some rockets fans are still waiting for this guy to turn the corner. 4 coaches in his past waited for the moment, and it never came. this guy is nothing but a glorified samaki walker.
yeah because SAR and Walker would be better fits. talk about a loser, SAR is the definition of one. as for walker, at least swift wouldn't think he's a superstar, like mr "i never saw a 3 pointer i didn't like."
Swift has a tendancy to miss clutch free throws. His FT% and blocks are remarkably down from his last season while fouls are up. Dude can have some good games, but his mentality is a bit too laid back to sustain consistent intensity. Fire or grit, those are basic requirements for championship caliber role players. Until Swift proves he has it, he needn't to be in our long term plan. Regular season stats are nothing. Look at Peja. It's the intangibles that matter. I'm not saying Swift should be shopped, he's far from being treated as having great potential to reach corner stone status due to lack of intangibles, though.
oh yeah, and remind me again what Swift does better? dont bother you will not be able to answer me. The only person on the court he out plays is the Ref.
Great game by Swift, and a good showing in the two games since he was suspended. I'm still not off his bandwagon. He gives us a skillset that we can't get from any of our other big men. He can face-up and attack from the highpost, and when he gets his rotations down (like he's been doing the past two games), he rotates very quickly for a big man. And his interior passing is very underrated. Give him some more time with a finisher like Yao and that passing ability can really become a weapon. I don't think it's a coincidence that Stro's best games (the past two, and during our 5-1 road trip) have been when Yao and T-mac have been in the lineup. He just seems to fit in his role much better between those two.
